Walk on Water
Definitely one of my favorites, the storytelling and character arcs are great, which is something I always appreciate. The whole thing feels so cinematic and the shots and art totally support that. The author weaves a narrative that really makes you feel immersed and part of the story. It draws me in in a way that few other comics like this have. It gets me in the feels and I really love it. And it also is a very queer story like, more so than many other BL. I can’t express how raw and emotional this story makes me at times. It is just heart-wrenching and so well written. My heart breaks every time I read it when they break up.
Habibi's Rabbits
I really enjoy the plot, world building, and cuteness of this story. It was sort of a rollercoaster ride of a story but funny and cute at times and with lovable and interesting characters. Loved seeing the main pair’s kids at the end after so much waiting, very cute. Nice and sweet ending.
Siren's Song
I’m really enjoying the commitment to naturalistic storytelling here. No exposition or explanation, just throwing you in with the characters and slowly figuring out how they are all related and what the dynamics and motivations are. It’s like a puzzle you are putting together, but most authors don’t have the skill or confidence to pull it off. It’s also so much more interesting to have the villain be abusive and manipulative but also be trying to hold himself back from going too far. It makes the lines between the main love interest and the abuser a little less defined while also being very clear somehow. After finishing it, I feel like they took the thing I liked too far. It was hard to follow at certain points with no explanation or context, but overall an enjoyable story with a mystery element.
Punch Drunk Love
Oh it’s so cringe but funny and silly. Fairly lighthearted, which I appreciate. I love it.
Full volume
Honestly this is one of the best and more thought out comics I’ve read. I felt like the characters, while over the top and funny, actually communicated and worked through their problems while being entertaining. I really enjoyed it and the art style is so unique, loved it!
Dead or alive
The art style really suits the story and the characters are fun so far. God everything about this story is great. The setting and drawing style, the plot, character names, and the translation is especially good. An enemies-to-lovers, unlikely-pair buddy adventure in the Wild West (with for some reason a cameo of monkeys and a forest?), it really works with its setting and tropes to tell an excellent story. It’s a well told story that knows exactly the story it’s trying to tell and does it efficiently and deliberately, which I always appreciate. Well done.
Jinx
Kind of hate it but the author knows how to write just enough intrigue for me to keep reading. It’s so hard to keep reading sometimes since the main guy is so mean, just on another level of mean. But I’m too invested now and will keep going probably. Who knows when the next season will be but I’ll prob read at some point. The art is gorgeous at least.
Ogus's Law
I loved this story. The art is fantastic and the story is compelling. I’m always a sucker for magical schools but this one works really well. Read on tapas.
