Night of Ecstasy's manga / #horror(4)

I read this story years ago. In fact, I found this site in search of where I could read this and I've been here since then. I'm not gonna rate it right now because I plan to reread it again now that I'm older. Problem is, I'm scared to reread it. I don't remember much, but the things I do remember has me feeling miserable. I've read some fucked up yaois but, for whatever reason, THIS was the one that stuck to me. So until I reread it again, I'm leaving this rating blank.

Dropped at chapter 9. This shit reads like a creepy pasta fanfic that romantisizes serial killers. Even the cannibal looks to be inspired by Jeff the Killer. Too weird for me. I'm out.

I'm not gonna lie, this might be one of Junji Ito's worse stories. Even that "happy" ending (which rarely happens in his stories) was ass. Left way too much unanswered questions and left you feeling confused (more so than usual, becuase this IS Ito Junji afterall). Wish that second story had more chapters instead because it was WAY more interesting than the main. But it ended with unanswered questions too like wtf was up with the plane and flyers? How was she able to stitch up that many people all by herself? Is she not actually the killer but just went crazy from the isolation? We'll never know.

Main: I liked it. Could do without the circus part but an otherwise interesting and solid story. Would definitely recommend as a first reading of Junji Ito works. 2nd: What the fuck? Am I supposed to feel sad or horrified? That death was dumb and unnecessary. There was no reason why he should've been in that crawl space to begin with! 3rd: This might be my second favorite Junji Ito story (first being Uzumaki). I wish we could actually see the deformed human leaving the hole instead of that cliffhanger but I also kind of like that cliffhanger. Leaves more to the imagination on what that thing is anymore and what it'll do once it leaves the hole.
