Hakwonmul
I binge read this and honestly it was very “meh” to me. It was pretty wholesome and cute at the start and the development was a slow burn, but I love slow burns so I enjoyed seeing them develop and re confession was rewarding but that’s where the wholesome stuff ended. After they got together their chemistry went rlly badly downhill, and all the angst just felt like it was there for the sake of stretching out the story. To the point where it felt like Minho (the main character) should just break up with Junoh. He didn’t tell him/ let him on in anything and just left Minho in the dark. It just felt like it would’ve been better if they broke up and got with different people. Also all the male characters who had unrequited love with Junoh was absurd. They rlly didn’t not need to have it in the story. The ending also felt weirdly rushed so it didn’t give a satisfying ending/ any closure. To give some perspective on how much they unnecessarily stretched the story, they got together at around chapter 40 and the series has 84 chapters. I wouldn’t have minded if it was focused on another couple etc. the main characters best friend or sister, but it was just 44 chapters showcasing how bad their relationship/ communication was. It didn’t need to be as long as it was and some of the choices the author made was HEAVILY unnecessary. Overall it’s just a 5-6/10. The first half was great but the second half just sucked. It was disappointing with an unsatisfying ending.
This Fluffy Love
Uhhhhh where do I start? It was ok? Of course I should t have expected professional type work from like. A manga artist since of course this is self published and free to read on webtoon and tapas (I personally read it on tapas) and it is.. interesting to say the least. The pacing is awful and character decisions often make no sense and seem VERY out of character and sudden. I’m not a big fan of how the series handles a lot of its topics but some of the characters are likeable. Like my personal favourite has to be the male leads step mother. She’s such a fun emotional person who, in my personal opinion has the most character growth and depth. I’m not even gonna lie, the most bland characters in the webtoon are legit the main characters. It’s actually crazy. Even characters who get like 2 chapters of time to showcase who they are, have more depth than the goddamn main characters. The main characters are plain, generic and sometimes plain unlikeable. There are so many times I just wanted to punch the mc’s in the face. And honestly the confession scene wasn’t rewarding at all because it felt like there was no actual development between the characters. It was just weirdly sudden for the male interest to start liking the main character. I guess I felt disappointed since I thought the story was going to be better than it actually was. 5-6/10
