Ch 29 reveal Ch 50ish house hogan is a very rich merchant family, even nobles dislike them and their stuck up attitudes. Main and guy discovered an illegal fighting ring that cost many ppl's lives. But bc the house is very powerful, they bribed ppl and tried to fire the detectives involved. Main guy took the fall to prevent more damage to their detective group. Now main and guy live in different city while guy gets hired by his royal cousin to be an underground/undercover detective and report only to the cousin in instances and crimes. The royal related detective work is mostly for magic related crimes bc they need to keep it quiet when persecuted to not scare the public. Main met a kid who was at the illegal fighting ring and saved him, he offered his service in turn for room and board. Main teaches him manners and reading and writing, guy is a bit jealous but doesnt realize that his actions is bc of jealousy. Still not sure about main's background.
