Momo To Manji
I really like the art and the historical theme, I just recently found out about wakashu and oh man this story is 100% a shudo story. Wakashu is a term used for a stage between childhood and adulthood boys went through ( like between 12 and 21) where they entered relationships with adult men that were basically tutoring but you ocasionally have sex with the tutor. The shudo was a very common practice that has its rules and values, especially in the edo era and wakashu were sought upon as being in the prime of their beauty at around 16-18 yrs old. A shudo relationship was supposed to be one-sided, the wakashu just entered them out of duty and compassion. Momo looks like he has just gotten out of the wakashu phase since he doesnt have the forelock which was like a patch of hair in the front that was cut off leaving the fore head entirely shaved as an adult, but finds himself acually liking men (wakashu werent considered real men and sex between two adult men was frowned upon). So yeah that what this story is. and also wakashu wore female clothing.
Dear Gene
When I started reading I was prepared for the worst from how people have said they cried from this, I'm so glad it wasn't the bad kind of crying. This story is precious, the way it is told with the boy reading the diary is so interesting. I cried happy tears in the end, I hope they slowly worked out their relationship again and grew old together
Rumspringa no Joukei
I had just read Dear Gene and omg!! This is the story about the rappearing background character Oz!!! Dear Gene was drawn after this manga but it takes place before it, in the 70s. So I guess this is a sequel in the same universe since Theo comes from the same village as Gene (Jean? The spelling is different here). And wow, it's another really good story, it has a lot of clichee but i loved indulging in the pure romance of them. Sometimes I miss the amounr of love emanating from this pair in other BLs. I'm a sucker for happy romance but it needs it's conflicts of course and they were really well executed here. I'd love to see this as a movie or even an anime but society at large isn't ready for this it seems.
