Shizuku Hanabira Ringo no Kaori
This manga is really good, except for what happens in chapters 11-14. It is not acceptable to hit someone, and when the seme did, I was shocked. I get that jealousy can occur in situations like this, but when the seme hit the uke, it felt abusive (even though it was the first time that had happened. There are parts of the manga where you see how controlling the seme is, and it straddles a fine line between being somewhat possessive and being controlling.) It especially felt abusive, as the uke did communicate with the seme, but the seme didn’t communicate with the uke. The seme just went on and on pretending he was fine with it (even when the uke SPECIFICALLY ASKED HIM), when he actually wasn’t. I don’t want to hear all of this crap by the manga that says that the uke needed to “read between the lines.” No. You communicate by using your words, tone, and body language. Saying one thing with your words while meaning the opposite with your body language is not acceptable when the other person is under one impression. Anyways, the seme does apologize, but what bothered me was that the uke tries to stop him. He should haven’t tried to brush off the seme’s apology. Still, I actually found their relationship (except for the above incident) to be really good. They actually worked, despite having such different personalities.
Charao-kun to Haraguro-kun no Himitsu
We Are Not Friends
Ooooh! I like the back and forth chemistry between them (sort of a love-hate situation, and an unwanted-yet-unavoidable relationship for -- if we have to put them into boxes -- the 'seme'). Dang -- the drummer definitely, definitely gets underneath the director's skin. Ha ha ha, I'm looking forward to it :p
Go for it!!
Two sports players (from different professions) come head-to-head in this absolute hilarious sports manga. They instantly don't get along when they first meet each other, the boxer assuming things about the basketball player and firing the first shot, the basketball player responding in kind. They slowly come around to hanging out with each other, when the basketball player kisses the boxer all of a sudden. What will come out of this inexplicable relationship? ~Chapter 3
Mask Danshi wa Koishitakunai no ni
Ha ha ha, another mask manga for the pandemic of the century (discounting the 1918 Spanish Influenza). This story has nothing to do with a pandemic though. Sayama, regular guy with a penchant for wearing a mask, ends up in the nurse's office after some douchebag (read: the main romantic lead) falls hard (literally, not figuratively) on Sayama and doesn't even apologize properly. Therein lies the set-up for the romance, and our mask-wearing hero is pursued. Update: Sadism, weird, creepy...Saikawa's got some issues... Update on update: Like, I understand why you've got the hots for him (bc he's a good kisser and smexy and whatever) but the feels? I don't get it brah... ~Chapter 7
Akai Ito No Shikkou Yuuyo
Guy who can see the red string of love wants to run away from fate at all costs when his string attaches to another guy on his college campus. ~Chapter 5.6
Semantic Error
These two hate each other for valid reasons -- the black haired guy got the redhead a bad grade because the redhead didn't do his part of the project, and the redhead tried to work with the black haired guy on a side project afterwards without being rude to him, only for the black haired guy to talk smack as a 'precautionary measure.' Thus mutual hatred ensues. How they will ever get together in a realistic manner is a wonder to me. It's kind of going into 'stupid' territory at this point...but the end of the 9th chapter was pretty funny. Dat face though. ~ Chapter 10
Runway Hit
Seowoo is a once-up-and-coming fashion artist, who threw it all away because his style doesn't fit the current trends after a one-hit star-making debut. After several years in the fashion industry, Seowoo relies on a friend of his, the CEO of a modeling company, who decides to introduce him, as a last resort, to "a lunatic" model, someone who often pulls things and kind of gets away with them. Can they get along (in more ways than one)? ~Chapter 20
Perfect Buddy
Ooooh! Love to read hate to love plots done right haha! Seo Hyunsoo lives the straight and narrow with the work mantra, "I do my best at work." He works for a fashion magazine company, and is top of the line in his work; he is the current manager of the department. He has heard about the other manager for one of the branches, the mysterious Baek Youngchan; he is said to be the department's ace, and is a mythical figure in the City Casual fashion company. To his surprise, he meets him one day...and finds that he hates him. Little does he know that a storm is in his path; this is the path to true love and an end to singledom...and he'll be kicking and screaming about it on the way there. 10/10 for a solid start, cute characters, and beautiful artwork. Edit: I feel like Baek is a shady character; I'm not sure what to make of him, or the situation. I feel like there's a lot of weird communication issues; I feel like they could have just made Baek more transparent, and there wouldn't be such weird tension around everything. ~Chapter 10
