Himekoi (MITSUYA Bond)
childhood best friends kanata and kuro perform a marriage ceremony, as per the tradition of their ancestors for the prosperity of their village. i loved nearly everything about it. i thought it would be similar to muri marriage given the premise, but it was completely different. i enjoyed the main story, and also enjoyed the fathers' story (though it did leave me with heartburn). i do like how they addressed kanatas consent to such a tradition and overall, this was such a nice read. only qualm that bumped this from a 5 to 4 star was the dubcon and numerous questions surrounding the mothers' fates.
Akai Ito No Shikkou Yuuyo
keiji was born with the ability to see the red string of fate, and when he realized his own red string is attached to a man named hiro, keiji does everything he can to prevent himself from falling. all in all this was pretty cliche, w the red string and the denial, but i enjoyed this a lot. hiro is the loml he was simultaneously the most respectful, pitiful, stubborn character in the story. i wish we got to see more of keiji moping after he cut the string, and more time into their actual relationship, but this story had great pacing compared to others of the same length.
Tsuki wa Michikake Kemono no Koi
izuki moves away from the city and into the mountains, and meets a lonely guardian spirit that refuses to be lonely any longer. was drawn in by the absolutely stunning cover but wow, did not expect to finish this on the verge of tears. art style is gorgeous, and minus the obligatory dub/noncon (not appreciated at all btw), this story progressed in a very melodramatic and heartfelt way. bittersweet ending but i choose to think theyre happy.
Omega to Akuma no Sefure Jijou
yuuma, in hopes of becoming the top host of his club, summons devil ai to help him grant said wish. i feel like so much happened in this manga within such a short span of time... i think it was a bit tacky at points and hard to read at others, but the ending was cute! art style was a change of pace for me too.
The place where the sea breeze blows
mei ye is best friends with xiao hai, a mute boy whos life was saved by the sea. ngl, this was pretty sad. im glad that the extra chapter gave them a happy ending, but i feel like the sad one suited this better. very light shounen ai and the art was really pretty and vibrant.
Half Goblin
emperor heeyeon brings a goblin named yeoheun to his side in order to relieve his overheating body. aside from the dubcon at the beginning, this story was simple and quite a light read. though i do feel like the setup left me anticipating some more conflict, it felt like things just kinda wrapped up before there were any real problems. like, was the climax the moment yeoheun recalled his memories? if nothing happened after, what was the point of suppressing them in the first place? i feel like though this ended up as a decent read, it had a lot of potential that just did not take off due to lack of actual conflict given the circumstances. other than story, shin yuri does it again with amazing art, i absolutely adored the emperor's character design it was just so good.
Hime Muko
yamato reencounters shiki, the best friend he thought was dead, who is now the himiko of their kingdom. ngl this made me kind of sad at points, but i liked the way things turned out! yamato's character design had me drooling and his character itself was great. lit the perfect man. the narrative was well paced and toned well, i felt so bad for shiki and what he'd gone through. the only complain i have is that foul cliffhanger regarding the baby.
Platinum Blood
a vampire uses his adoptive priest father as an energy bank and accidentally turns him into a vampire. the cover for this was drop dead gorgeous, so when i say i was disappointed at the story, i really mean it. we were already off to an odd start with the priest being the vampire's adoptive father, but the boundaries of their relationship were really muddled. i feel like this story suffers from poor pacing, making it feel empty as the ending had no effect on me. great art, poor storytelling imo. this is completely ignoring the fact that the other vampire was having a sub/dom relationship w a child..
Bitten By Moonlight
