Rin was kicked out of home in high school when his father found out he was gay, and turned to prostitution to get by. He gets taken in by Matsuno, a kind but straight lawyer. Matsuno gets Rin a job at the bar he frequents and later offers to adopt him, not realizing that this is also how gay men get married in Japan. Rin gets angry at him and leaves to sleep in the storage room of the bar. Matsuno, after realizing what it means, also realizes that he is upset that Rin rejected him. He finally understands that he is in love with Rin.
