See you later, Mermaid
Oct 2024 A sweet childhood friend’s romance. Dash of other fun things like a supernatural ability, reencounter, mild angst and awkward firsts. All with beautiful art and an engaging way of unfolding the past, present and inner perspectives of both leads. This one-shot felt very neatly put together, with details outside the focussed story being kept to a minimum and the characters shining through. I’ll be looking into more of this authors work~

3 ️️️ Nov 14 2024 ️ Nice art ️ Developed characters ️ Funny/cute interactions ️ Story gimmick relies heavily on non-con A quick and amusing read with a nice balance of smut to interaction ratio. The supernatural element / gimmick was fun. However the shift into intimacy was very abrupt and underdeveloped. Like why would you try that instead of waiting one day even?? Why would you think that would solve it? It all just makes the ML rather scummy, and had me suspecting he knew more about the spell than he let on. Understanding how the spell works, the many moemtns of “you cant just DO THAT, noo” i felt and the unfortunate non-con aspects made sense why it had to be that way. But again, the author set the rules for the spell, and I wish they did so in a way that enabled the bickering and shift in relationship while still having them give consent for the sexual parts. The art is nice and they have cute and funny moments and the characters felt fleshed out nicely for a 6 episode story. Their voices and mannerisms made them very real! An enjoyable read, I just really wish BL/Yaoi authors would move away from non-con.
