This has a more interesting beginning than the other works. Not to mention, I have a fascination for exorcists - Constantine was an exorcist, D.Gray-man has exorcists in it too, and now this one - because they tend to have good plot lines and fascinating methods. The female protagonist seem to be strong too - that’s a plus. Even better, she’s not annoying - so far anyway.
Vampire Knight Memories
I just had an epiphany. For the longest time, I’ve had a love-hate relationship with Yuuki’s character. Many of the things she did or thought or felt were eccentric to me, and I felt the whole time I was reading (and cheering for her) how starkly different we were. Despite the mixed feelings about Yuuki, there were times she would resonate. She was illogical, and complicated things, but it’s not like she’s irredeemable. She’s probably more resonant and relatable to other girls, despite not a character holding much relatability to me. One thing I do I admire about her and resonate with her is her love for the normal days. That pure-heartedness and straightforwardness I think is her greatest strength - in fact, it didn’t click to me until now that these traits of her were what had saved Kaname and Zero throughout the way. In the darkest of nights, she was a safe haven for these two. She did not crave power or humanity, she only loved them for who they were, for Zero and for Kaname. Their presence was enough, and when the ties were persistently tested, her feelings remained steadfast. Her airheadedness still gets to me, as I’m a pretty logical person. But if I try to be patient with her, I get times when I feel really proud of Yuuki. Anyway, it’s been really heart wrenching so far. I feel like this is heading a lot towards a bittersweet ending - and I am unsatisfied with those kinds of endings
Yu Cai Immortal Sect
This is fantastic. Quite the find! Everything makes sense, there’s a good dose of balance between serious and comedic themes, and so many characters to love. The world building and principles do not break the cause-and-effect despite the fantastical elements such as cultivation and clan dynamics — the structure that these metaphysical powers abide by still exist, making it easier to digest the context of the story and fictional world. My favorites are Xiang Qi, Hong Jun, and Cheng Si. But aside from them, there are still a lot of more to love, such as the other clan members, Xu Yuo and Yang Jin and the additions to the clan. The transmigration of not only one person but of many made this more than just about one person’s journey. Plus, I love how it’s not overwhelming from the start.
Reaper of the Drifting Moon
(7) it’s hard not to like a smart protagonist. Having said that, I hope he doesn’t turn too savage or greedy because of the need to survive. I hope he still retains some humanity. Be it shaved a bit of layers, but human all the same. Screw those kidnappers though — cruel adults with no soul who deserve to go to hell all the same. (13) I was just thinking that it was smart of him to hide his powers and knowledge, then there he goes giving out his knowledge of the poisonous gu. What if those kids were tortured and they couldn’t keep quiet about him being resistant to poison under the torment? What would be the point of hiding his powers in the first place? In my opinion, that was incongruent to his character and unwise. It may be in alignment to his goals of increasing more of the children becoming variables by lending a bit of helping hand, but I still find it contradictory to the paramount importance of keeping his skills hidden. He’s still trapped in that cave after all. When they find out he’s immune and uncontrollable, then they’d want to kill him. (22) how dare he kill someone else’s child after he lamented for his child being killed. Talking as if their ambitions are much more important than a person’s life. Vile humans. That HAG turned up again. Ugh. (26) HAH! Vile humans. TT.TT you have to survive (27) his appearance changed so drastically! (38) people who court death go to hell. Pyo wol was minding his business. It was this girl and her group who acted all high-handed, and now they think they can punish others for asking to be humiliated. Some people ask to be humiliated and have the thick skull and ugly face to show up for retribution. Just be grateful you’re even alive. Ugh I will enjoy when Pyo wol finishes with this group. Good riddance. Hopefully he can find his peace and quiet. (42) all these schemers acting high and mighty (49) moment of truth! (52) at last. Teach this rotten wrinkly worm a lesson. (55) I’m crying at last he can be free to live life other than for revenge. Those despicable leaders who are dishonorably and cowardly, ugly and filled with greed, leading many people to die for their selfish and immoral causes, are finally gone. I hope a new era dawns. Pyo wol wanted to travel
Aijitsu to Hanayome
I don’t think the storyline is anything too special. The selling point for me is the resonating characters. The plot line turned a bit weird for me close to the end, however the fact remains that I loved the introduction and first part of the story.
