The characters and MC spout a lot of nonsense like the ear is infected and need stitches (this is from ML’s bite) or do things like fall asleep right away in a supposedly adrenaline-inducing crisis

I had a feeling that this would be a bummer for me (as intriguing as the themes may be). I’ve been developing my radar for stories that might dissatisfy me (even if they might be literarily excellent) so as soon as I had a hunch, I went straight to the ending, and sure enough it wasn’t an ending that would give me closure. I just don’t read things that give me existential crisis anymore. Reality is already bleak for me, it’s not more despair I need from books. I’m looking for beauty and hope and being deeply moved in a positive way. Confusion is a for me. It triggers my baggage (family and friends gaslighting me). So no! Thank you!
