The Problematic Prince
This is heart wrenching. I’m so glad I skipped fr chapter 30 and skipping ten chapters forward to the present. I’m so happy I’m not deeply invested in this story. Had I not merely skimmed through the chapters, I’d be considerably more hurt than I am now. I couldn’t even bring myself to read the words Bjorn said. Only hope for an exceptional groveling is keeping me sane and adamant to read the rest of the story. Edit: Love the angst. Whether she takes him back or not, I’d be happy with either outcomes bahahahaha! On a serious note, I understand why Bjorn is the way he is- psychopathy. And I mean that as ASPD, as in medical diagnosis not the definition popularized by mainstream media. He has difficulty empathizing but it’s easy for him to navigate general societal practices. He can be charming for his own advantage but he can’t comprehend or identify most human emotions even his own. These kinds of people aren’t irredeemable, they just need therapy… which Bjorn will never have unless he live for a couple more centuries. He has ASPD in addition to his pride, narcissism, and condescending personality. Now Erna. It could be frustrating watching her put up with everything she’s been through. None of it was her fault. She was hopeful and naive but then again, she didn’t know any better. There was a point when she was gaining a momentum, trying to rid herself of the shit Bjorn dragged her through but the asshole just had to blackmail her with her baby. It still upsets me that she belittles herself. But I’m glad she had her integrity and respect for her upbringing and roots. She doesn’t love Bjorn anymore and at first, I think she left because it wasn’t fair to him (she’s kind, I get it) and when she had time to herself, I think it began to sink in that it wasn’t fair for her either nor for the people who truly love her and would feel upset if she sold herself short. She’s now a firm force and I’m all in for the quiet strength she has. It’s underplayed and unique in today’s modern feminism. A lot don’t understand how refined and graceful a quiet, firm and enduring strength a woman has.
