29 (?) - not to original characters meet and become a family - and that is fun! I like the fact that the only one privy to all secrets is a ordinary little girl (esper but no genius, sometimes goofy and socially awkward) It’s good to see real relationships build up in the middle of crime fighting, lies … and school affairs ! Nice, well balanced and paced full of unexpected events and mostly fun - that’s one of the most original manga I’ve read in years

10 - good start, pretty dark background, nice MC with good personality, not op Don’t be misled by the title, there’s no making fun so far

27 - very slow paced, to many gruesome flashbacks, but it has a purpose, interesting questions , lots of them But it’s a bit stupid as it goes on : if the prince is not a psychopath then he obviously has circumstances Maybe it’s hard for the mc to go beyond her anger and her grief but it’s still a bit strange and it’s hard to sympathize when all she knows is faking smiles and lies

78 - the characters are feeling true, the bullying part is dark, but the MC saves the ball so. Until the in media ress, only the end get lengthy, but it’s fin It’s a like « i sincerely became a maid… » but less extreme and more believable, i also like the MC better, she seems more genuine and it doesn’t seems like she’s going to run away from her « master » and she’s not living trapped in her beliefs - she level headed, strong in her own way, righteous just enough, and cool ! I also like chloe/claude, who’s a bit stubborn and childish, but also determined to keep his precious person by his side (he’s not a psychopath so far. So it’s rather cute and funny) After the in mediaress however, the cluelessness of th mc is bordering the unbearable point : in a way she still believes it’s a novel an can’t see her own worth, can’t see other’s feelings and remains clueless about Chloe/claude’s love for her -it take more than 70 chapters for her to get it, and then… well luckily she’s ok with it - of course on the slow side , but ok But overall It feels lacking in tension and emotions - she’s also feels like someone with little empathy for the other characters and lacks depth - basically, she’s not that good nature, she just had a lot of pity for claude ? https://www.novelupdates.com/series/the-lady-i-served-became-the-master/

53 - 4.5 -good, with an incredible pace and an ok plot The visual are absurdly violent, which makes reading intense (although sometimes sickening) We’re again in front of a « solo » player / one man team , who trust no one (for a reason) yet that would appear to be a near flaw as it’s hardly believable that there would only be greed to these heroes, and no good people (?) 71 - (similar to the second life of a ranker zeroscan dot com ) mix of many thing - solo leveling, tower of god and probably many more - with very boring one man army guy again (necromancy) and with a patchwork of all kind of power (like all the power rangers in one guy ) It’s pretty heavy as the murder of the twin brother gives not only a revenge goal but also his past experiences are a guideline, so the MC - described as another cool cucumber joe - mostly delves in these heart wenching memories :/ sob sob That by itself provides unbalance : you can’t relate too much to an emotionally impaired character, but you can relate to his pain and loss ! (more sob sob - ouch) There are quite a few contradictions too : he is supposed to be his brother hero with a kind temperament, but he spent years alone in the army… he has an obsession for growth but there’s no goal out of revenge ?? Please make up your mind author) - Another contradiction is the duality of the extremely violent, treacherous and murderous setting (yeah all of that) - and some kind hearted things that nearly seems out of place - for exemple - to avenge a bird you’ll take a man son as a hostage - so yeah the son is a screwup - but he seriously had no idea of it, before capture him So the art is nice, the pace is great - but i’m a bit lost there I’ll read more for the possible plot later on - maybe ? https://www.novelupdates.com/series/second-life-ranker/

79 - 4.5 - variation on the trapped in a game world plot - the universe ise pretty original and the condition of the earthian is really interesting - our MC is very unperfect, he has serious limitations besides being op- his team is interesting too, and all the cast have intrinsic value, they do things the MC is incapable of - his reactions are those of your average joe, he’s not a hero, he’s scared of many things without it being ridiculous, yet he’s humane he has ok values that grows with good encounters, so there’s quite a bit of character development :) the story has a very humorous start and keep really fun part, but soon some deeper plot with some dark and sad bits makes for an interesting read that manages to never go over the top and keep balance in the storytelling, never getting to angsty, but keeping you on your toes, with a great pace Definitely a great read https://www.novelupdates.com/series/survival-story-of-a-sword-king/
