Extra oneshot “Kimi to Aruku Yoru”
yehehhehehhh
Limited Run
I would’ve appreciated this more if this was back in high school but not I’m just seeing dents in character. rape becomes a sex scene. abuse turns justified at some point. falling in love is irrational and immature— warranted but the way it turned into a quick fold for the uke was just eh. Well 6 months isn’t quick I guess but seme just happens to appear at the right times even when he wasn’t into the dude but also was into him. No doubt he sex is good but I found myself just getting through them. Stay for the sex not for the plot.
Wet Sand
god I love this. fucking masterpiece. it’s a beautiful narrative about the past catching up to you and a splash of unresolved mistakes and its consequences. there’s also the picture perfect Jo with everything but he’s also sickened with his willingness to enter into Ian’s chaos. damn it’s just amazing since all of the characters are fleshed out beautifully— all of them have reasons and storylines that give them life. Ian’s an amazing, doomed protagonist. Maybe a character with the biggest dilemma of all time: to choose for oneself or to choose for the sake of everyone else. tough gang.
The Pizza Delivery Man and The Gold Palace
I fucking hate this manhwa because i fucking love it. gosh the drama is crazy but what’s even crazier is the entire dynamic of characters being fleshed out so beautifully. I hate that I resonate with both of them but especially wonwoo with his situation and overall inability to open up and take chances because he’s just so used to a shitty life that makes him go for the next best thing that doesn’t affect anyone else negatively in the process. I love the themes of wealth disparity, anxiety, insecurity, and the complexities of love are fleshed out. I love how they constantly strive to be the best for each other but it ends up doing quite the opposite— such is the paradox of love. I see myself in both of them and each chapter just hurts because I understand it. Even with my last relationship, open communication is sometimes never enough when there are things you feel like you have to keep to yourself for the sake of a ‘healthy’ relationship you want to keep. Ah fuck, this is too good. They’re at an arc where is seems like woo won might be racked in his ptsd which might change their dynamics once more but that makes this story all the more tangible in the way that relationships are always a push and a pull, something that never stays constant except for the two people in it.
