Matsushima is in love with Tsujimoto, but has only ever admired him from afar. Tsujimoto starts to fall for Matsushima when the latter confronts him after an unsuccessful and uncharacteristic shoplifting attempt done in the name of teenage rebellion against his "overly demanding, selfish" father (damn that's a sentence and half). As the two get closer Matsushima's family situation throws him into skipping school. Learning of the situation Tsujimoto is ready to throw caution to the wind and throw himself wholeheartedly into supporting Matsushima and his struggling family. Matsushima at the same time doesn't want to be the reason Tsujimoto throws away his future and/or gets in trouble with his father.
