The entire plot, art style and characters are one big AWE moment illustrated for our viewing pleasures. Would recommend for anyone looking for a lengthier story.

Absolutely fascinating as a character study. Ryohei could have been the worst character (If you told me he raped children and burned villages; I probably would believe you just based on the way he was drawn alone) but the author chose to take a different route and give him depth; intelligent and self awareness and I was beyond excited for that. From chapter 1 Ryo was bussy whipped and he didn't even know it; I loved every minute of that. The mutual declaration of boundaries and respect for each others lives, time and effort; was my jam and both characters were self aware enough to look inwards to examine situations and act and react accordingly; You could tell that Ishiguro was desperately in love and he was terrified of getting what he wanted (which is fair) It can be a horrifying experience to lust after something or someone and finally get it and not know how to process finally having and cherishing the thing you've wanted for so long. Which to me explains him not asking for too much and being satisfied with anything; Ryohei wasn't having any of that and he pushed him further into communicating his needs and giving him space/opportunity to ask for more in a respectful manner. (High five my dude; you da real MVP.) My only complaint is I do wish Ishiguro had a chapter of his own perspective because to understand how he views this relationship and how he balances his obligations with his desires and relationship with others would have been a nice addition. I'm assuming he's in school to be a lawyer and I also don't think it was his idea; so as a character he wasn't explored enough for my satisfaction, How does one handle being gay; not having the room to be vocal of his own desires from family and friends. Whats going through his mind when Ryo puts in effort to clarify himself and how does he process all of this at once when everything he's experiencing is so new and he's going through so many firsts... He needed a bonus chapter. 5 stars But Ryohei was a complete "Chef's kiss" as a character.
