There was a lot of potential for development of the characters, but at the end of the day, they didn't really go beyond clichés. Essentially, they're two-dimensional. The only character that was really interesting was the childhood friend, and I hoped he'd get more development and screen time, but he didn't. As to the protagonists, I've seen these characters before, and the story doesn't really make me feel anything, because it just feels like a big cliché. A story doesn't have to be totally new and original to be entertaining, but this felt like the characters weren't developed well. It's a shame. When the Omega's past was revealed, I thought we'd finally get some more development. But the things that could be interesting were badly explained and dismissed, and the whole thing felt shallow, unfortunately. The scene we're the omega is abandoned was pretty heartbreaking though. That aside, there's just common tropes and convenient plot points. Also, whenever I read omegaverse, I'm somewhat prepared for the ickyness of the non-consensual, "instinct" stuff. But I still don't enjoy it. The omegaverse aspects here (specially the Omega's "condition", which was badly explained) felt icky.
