There seems to be a bit of a pacing issue. There are some conflicts that the dk has that would hit better emotionally if she reflected her thoughts on it more but it's resolved too quickly, like she's not given time to fully digest what she feels and why.

There are so many aspects of this story that is intriguing but its pace and some logic is throwing me off. Although making her the head of the family makes sense considering her dad's personality, I wish that her grandpa pushed it back more bc of how young she is (about 10 years old). Additionally the 5 year time skip threw me for a loop. So much of her growth and other characters growth can't be seen in those 5 years and that's the most disappointing. And if a time skip was going to be done at least make her a teen.

started reading the novel and had to stop at chapter 127. i'm hoping the adaptation is better but just to give you an example of how bad it gets here are some spoilers: ️SPOILERS!! LAST CHANCE TO TURN AROUND!!️ A plague starts to spread at the borders of the empire due to the barrier cracking since it needs the saint to power it and at this point the saint has died so Esther is the saint. There's also this whole thing with Esther and her brothers trying to improve the slums but that's its own issue for later. While discussing how to deal with the main temple as temples from the borders are being shut down, the crown prince mentions that he knows someone who can handle the plague. The emperor teases him by saying that it's the crown prince's crush (Esther) and the scene switches to the prince being abashed for his crush spreading in the family. As Esther's family talks about how to manage the slums and improve it they decide on opening a school. Then the perspective shifts abruptly to their dad leading them to a room he filled with snake dolls since Esther likes snakes and dolls. The temple finds out about the plague and they struggle to find a solution since Laviene isn't the real saint. The later half of the chapter focused on the crown prince being scrutinized by Esther's father and brothers during a family dinner. Mind you that the crown prince and Laviene are 16 years old while Esther is 14 years old.

I'm so incredibly glad that this is NOT a transmigration or reincarnation type of story. I think it's interesting how well the author has combined romance between the parents and child rearing into one story without making one of them feel lacking or dragging.
