Honey X Honey Drops

Complete | minami kanan | 2004 released

I like the whole honey/drop system of close companions for the rich who come from middle class or poorer families since it allows both to understand each other better, but it definitely reinforces wealthy parents not spending quality time with their children.

Sweetheart V5: The Boss Is Too Kind!

Complete | Hua er bao | 2000 released

I'm always up for the female protagonist being reincarnated from modern to ancient but it's quite different when she goes from ancient to modern times...actually it has the same level of humor from the adjustment period and I find myself liking it of course! One thing that the story doesn't grasp is mental illness though it is very possible to have a delusion of being a princess from another time period without having some sort of learning disability, literally all Jing needed was someone to literally teach her all the basics of the modern world. I like the contrast between the the past body's soul who only took advantage of Lu Ming and the past princess Jing who is actually kind, knows Kung fu, and has painting and ancient literature skills...I guess in both lives she came from a poor environment but still shined with her beauty...one on the outside and the other both outside and inside. I like the current reincarnation of Lu Ming, he has that ice prince thing going on, but he's a tsundere...and I guess Jing's stepbrother is too! Also, I'm quite confused as to why no one told her that swimming pools have chlorine in the water that keeps it clean, wouldn't that kill the poor Koi fish?!?!

CEO Above, Me Below

Ongoing | ICiyuan dongman | 2000 released

I've got to say at first I was really thrown by the complete nonsense of the first part with On Guang being so confident that the female protagonist had drugged him, slept with him, and was keeping their child hidden away somewhere (maybe neglecting him/her) like nothing would alter his perception that maybe she was framed and maybe he was wrong. I was thinking he's got some serious mental issues to be so mad and violent all the time, his staff doesn't know what to do with him and women flock to him for his money, influence, looks, and even with all his faults he is intelligent when it comes to business and technology. I realize people try to use and drug On Guang all the time, but I was really pained by his response to how a virgin can be pregnant and not let the doctor verify I mean it was her life on the line if she was lying. But, the more you read the more you understand that he really has an extreme case of paranoid personality disorder mixed in with trauma and delusions...he thinks everyone is out to get him and holds fast to his own claims. If ever a person needed inpatient/therapy kind of treatment I think he should have had some things to help him cope and bring himself back to reality when he's lost in delusions and he blames himself for his brother's death as well and gets easily triggered by car accidents. I mean there should be someone that doesn't just go along with the male protagonist all the time, because yes he needs a constant support system but many of his thoughts and feelings are clouded by his mental illnesses. I do think it's interesting that his mind actually made 5 star food taste bad and only accepts the female protagonist's food!

Sand and Song of the Seas

Complete | You Shi , Misha | 2000 released

Oh boy I was reminded of Ouke no Monsho because of the special interest in a young girl with blue eyes, blonde hair, and love of ancient Egypt, except that the protagonist in Ouke had more of an extensive knowledge of Egypt that wasn't focused on just one pharaoh and her reaction was way more believable...Ivy is whining about going back so much in the beginning that she doesn't even realize she's in the past and I wondered why no one thought her clothes were strange? I mean she claimed to like Ramses II but then she didn't think what that time period would be like and she finds out that Sese is her favorite pharaoh and she pushes him away like nobody's business...I even felt a little bad for him although it must have shocked him to be rejected for the first time by a woman. Also, I like Xian he should find himself someone else who understands him and loves him like his sister, but Ivy like so many other protagonists should just realize that they've changed the timeline already for good and bad so just enjoy ancient times already! It's hilarious that she's so worried about her impact on history when she brought a gun, pepper spray and some other future inventions in a backpack...like couldn't that mess with the past as well? All I know is I like romanticized ancient times even when things don't make sense, but the original Nephatari is really amazing...she understands that you carve out your own destiny/love and if you already changed things drastically why not make them the way you want them?
