Writing quality varies is my only complaint. The reason is simple: The author has major issues with his publisher and editor in terms of quality and quantity and this only gets worse the farther you go into the series. Hiro Mashima was restricted in several instances from doing what he wanted with the series. An unhappy author makes an unhappy narrative.

The most lit piece of fiction I have ever read.

Every Shounen trope in existence which underuses its most valuable characters. The Concept was simple and fresh but is spoiled with obnoxious friendship scenes and half felt drama. Too much build up only for a disappointing reveal.

A breath of fresh air in Shounen. It uses tropes the way they are meant to while still pulling originality out god knows where!

A must-read classic. You may have watched the Anime but boy are you in for some surprises here.

You need to read this. It will destroy all your expectations. Never stop a chapter halfway. Read it all the way through and any apprehension you had will be dissolved. It is better than any comedy, shonen, or hentai I have read in years.
