Attachment Love
Sucks ass. Super vanilla candy ass story which doesn't follow through on bold ideas & ends up bending backwards in yaoi logic to walk back ideas & justify the main encounter.
My Lover, The Writer
A young couple, one our mc, the other a writer, try to fend off a stalker together. This is a short story. I don't know the purpose of this or why it had to be focused on a stalking situation. Ultimately it leads to mc hearing an affirmation of his partners love for him. Didn't necessarily need the stalking to reach that conclusion, but this is only an observation, not a complaint! I enjoyed this. Romantic slice of life, plus stalker.
Shining Star (clamp)
1987 Apparently, one of the first doujinshis from CLAMP? Beautiful drawings with such appealing characters as always. Short one shot about how two teachers romantically get together.
Love for Sale
So, the initial premise is that the MC lives a life restricted by his economic standing, and, with mutual consent, ends up going out with an older man to help with his money problem. However this premise is soon dropped , and the story becomes about the developing relationship of the two, with the main problem being: the uke loves the seme, & the seme, although kind, does not love the uke. The seme likes to treat his partners more like a sugar daddy. The seme treats the uke very well! He is kind, caring, & gentle. His character claims he loves to be a Giver, and it shows as he takes care of the uke. The uke is a hardworking, humble person who, although recieving alot from the seme, tries to not take advantage of him. For me personally, I feel both are quite likeable. This story can be quite nuanced with their characters &: relationship dynamic. For example, we find on a few occasions, the seme does not like to swallow cum & will get up in the middle of sex to rinse his mouth. He will not kiss either after a blow job. MC comes to the conclusion that the seme is a clean freak. In the relationship dynamic this causes more insecurity for the Uke as the seme does not want to receive anything from him. Uke might have to find someone new who will reciprocate his feelings. For the seme it's a bit weird because he plays the part of the gentle lover and yet he never has any romantic feelings for his partner. it makes me wonder if he is arromantic but still enjoys intimate companionship. As of chapter 50, we met on of the seme's exes & boy he is spicy. I actually hope the uke can end up with him Ooh or if not the spicy red head, then his cute, gentle teacher friend. Also, this is another seme I am in love with.
Nyaa to Nakukara Aishiteyo
So, main guy pick up a handsome man thinking he's a cat. He misunderstands & then thinks he's a poor Omega prostituting to get by. Turns out he's a seme prostituting cuz he likes sex! Deep down on his heart, he lives this shallow lifestyle because of his wounded heart. This ensues their relationship as the MC tries heal this alpha with love. I don't like omegaverse. Luckily for me, it wasn't too heavily involved. The story could've gone fine without it. What interested me were the dynamics. We have a reverse situation where the seme is the prostitute, where he is portrayed as the desirable seducer, & where he is in the weaker position, situationally with his position in life, being homeless, & spiritually his heart is weak. MC is the supportive rock for the seme. I appreciate how he was pushing their relationship meaningfully forward. It was short & sweet. It's like Hurt / Comfort. That's literally what this is. Healed by the power of LOVE. Seme looks very beautiful to me. Both characters have nice, caring personalities.
Call
Snarky, straight college boy, Haru, takes up sex work to make more dough. He meets his first client who is a kind, humble, salary man, Akiyama. Despite the callous attitude the mc gives him, he surprisingly starts to have affection for his client?! However, the story takes a dark twist when the MC recieves a phone call where (SPOILER/CW) Akiyama tries to tell Haru his final goodbye & last words before he commits suicide. This story really resonated with me. This theme always deeply settles in my heart: How do we live? When I was little, I never thought I'd relate to a message like this, but as an adult, unfortunately I do. Amidst all my bleak thoughts, this story feels like a companion who offers a kind comfort & small humble resolution. I really appreciate Nemui Asada for making this. She makes bold stories & is a hell of a creator. This doesn't offer any groundbreaking thoughts or deep explorations on suicide or depression, but it's relatable.
I'm A Stepmother, But My Daughter Is Just Too Cute!
This is really cool, but I lost interest. There were just a lot of other mangas I wanted to explore more. Sad girl who lived a sad life died but was reincarnated in a shoujo isekai, into the role of evil stepmom. But she has a good heart, so theres no way she's sticking to that. In this second chance at life she'll make things better. I really like how this touches on the subject of sexual assault on men via the prince character. He was a great character.
Under the Green Light
This is really cool. Great execution, as expected of Jaxx. I love the symbolism, themes, motifs & ideas she puts in her work. I love how art & sculpture play into the idea of wanting to preserve something eternally, thusc revealing even more about a character's personality, & maybe something more unhinged..? I've yet to figure out what "green light" represents, but the MC's studio says alot. His existence revolves around his art, this why the author has him living in his studio. This studio is far down in a basement like area with no natural lighting, bit an artificial green light. I feel it makes parallels between the two characters economic struggles of one who wants to move up in life, & another who already has as a gangster. There's alot of cool ideas here. Jaxx really delivers alot for readers to be entertained by! Waaahhh & the seme is so seductive. He's a perfect power bottom hehe I feel Jaxx is amazing at communicating passion, both in the dialogue of thoughts & the actions & movements of characters. The drawings themselves of the bodies are fine, but it's their little tender movements of nipping, biting, licking, the posing chosen that express alot to me. This, combined with their thoughts make everything feel so passionate. For example, one scene I like is when the two characters finish having a night of long sex. Jin wakes up & walks to the mirror to see theres a ton of red marks left on him as Matt comes up behind him & stares too. They both look at Jin's reflection on the mirror. Matt, while looking at Jin's neck then asks, how long will the marks stay? This communicated so much possessiveness. These guys are crazy about each other. I think Jaxx is really impressing me! 2/26/22. Season 1 ends with a yakuza ball & shit is hitting the fan. We're left on a cliff hanger. "I hope he felt beautiful in your eyes, just as he did in Matthew's", Oh Jaxx, Jin is perfect! Can't wait to see their relationship develop on season 2! 060623: omg it has been more than a year! I wonder when it will come back? No rush to the author tho.
Isn't it good?
It's fine. I don't need to read more. Stopped at Chp. 21. Two childhood friends take their relationship to the next level. Everything is straightforward and simple. A little too simple for my taste. The story didn't interest me and I'm not quite sure why but the sex scenes didn't spice me up either. It's still a cute story with lovely drawings
