Norainu no Yoru
DAMNN.. This manga is outstanding!! Great art, great plot, great characters, great sex!!!! It's super erotics. I don't specifically like the alpha x Omega pair, usually because I feel it fetishizes gender roles. So it's amazing this didn't have why of that! This featured an Beta top x Alpha bottom. I love seeing a big, masculine alpha get ravished! It got even better when author added a tiny hint of SM into their sex! And it got EVEN better when we find out the seme is an Obsessive Lover
The Omega Takes a Husband
This was the bomb!! Succesor to a yakuza family is a male omega and must get married. Being the tough omega that he is, he doesn't want to give his power away to an alpha. Rather the bodyguard and this omega boss have eyes for eachother.. But, the bodygaurd (aka childhood friend) is a little slow on the uptake.. This is the only kind of omegaverse I want to read! One where the couple shares equal power dynamics and the uke (or omega) defies tropes of passivity in the Yaoi genre and the rules of their omegaverse world with his tough manliness! Cute seeing him be affectionate too.
Kiraide Isasete
8/1/22: This subverts your expectations from sterotypical omegaverse in that the seme does not rape the uke!! Which says more about how toxic the omegaverse subgenre can be, but this story puts an interesting spin on how the alpha reacts to the omega's heat in a way that has you rooting for the seme! This a great fantasy for a dreamy anime boyfriend.
Who's Your Daddy?
7/15/22: So a high ranking police detective has a hazy one night stand and becomes pregnant. Only men from the royal family can impregnate someone regardless of gender. There's three men it could be. But really we all know who it is.. This one is frustrating... It follows tropes such as miscommunication, and uses them as a crutch for the story to progress. This is trash. Now that can be both good and bad. I don't mean that in a hateful way, but just that it is what it is. C'mon MC, you're too slow on the uptake! I read everything. This was interesting but stupid....
How To Be An Alpha
8/2/22: Omega MC has a phobia of alphas because of past trauma. His boyfriend is very sympathetic to this & thus, has not presented his secondary gender for fear of losing his partner if he is an alpha. It's mildly interesting. It's like gum, just something to chew on.
Restless Webtoon
8/02/22: Read this for the the second time! It's been a while but I wanted to revisit out of the blue. Omega verse can be so gross but this author makes even that end up wholesome. This does have dubcon, rape, & attempted assault as part of the world building for what the omega MC experiences. It isn't anything traumatic but fucked up & it is handled well by the author (only shows what's necessary, doesn't sexualize it. Even for the dubcon, the MC omega still gives verbal consent but its for a miscommunicated wrong reason).
Surge Looking For You
I tried 3 or 4 chapters. Figure skater MC is an omega who emits unscented pheromones, who meets Swimmer Seme who is an alpha with an aversion to the smell of omega pheromones. MC proposes a relationship of convenience. Nahhh not into this. It's not a very romantic premise. MC & seme get into a friends-with-benefits relationship. I don't know if the uke has other motivations besides liking the seme, but after some convincing, the seme is only agreeing because it would be useful to him in helping his physical condition as an athlete, & he absolutely wants nothing to do with MC since he feels dating would be a hindrance to his career. So unromantic. Which I understand is the point of a friends-with-benefits relationship. I've read other comics where I liked it, but this one, I think it comes down to me not liking the characters personality. I don't think much of their roles/ careers either. They're just nothing *shrugs* .. Also, uke is too demure, cute, & blushy for my personal cup of tea. Reminds me of a shoujo manga MC.
My sweet and bitter mate
8/06/22: High strung MC's life changes when he finds out he is an omega. "After an accidental encounter, Kim Minjoon finds out that he and Kihyun are destined to be each other’s ‘fated pair’. Will Minjoon let himself be swayed by the current of destiny?" So so. Gotta see how it goes Waiting for updates
Re:birth
Omega x Alpha except it's really Beta x Alpha Omegaverse is a tragic subgenre & this is a story that explores the tragedy in that universe. What I find interesting about Omega versus is that there's two types of stories that tend to be explored: there's the romantic idea of fighting against destiny, and then on the opposite end of the spectrum there's the idea that actually romanticizes and fetishizes the dominant and submissive Dynamics of Alpha and Omega ,which most of these stories tend to focus on. I believe Omegaverse is used as a vehicle for drawing really hot, passionate sex where people make love like animals & fulfill carnal instincts. In the case of Alpha and omega's I believe it's all it also fetishizes relationship roles such as the dominant and submissive one and masculine and feminine roles, or one who's the enticer & the one who gets enticed This is seen mainly in omegas who their main feature is that they entice others & their fuxkable.. from there on then it's used as a vehicle for angst and drama since the Omega are usually assaulted and most stories that's the looming threat that always hangs over this universe. Overtime I have grown to hate this so genre for many of these observations I just listed. I think it's gross to put these characters and such awful situations for the sake of what? Angst? Drama? For fetish? It's a messed up universe and this is one of those stories that actually acknowledges it and uses my more favorable storyline of "fighting against destiny" to bring it all together.
