Yoichi to Tsugumo
In the protected forest of the guardian deity, Yoichi the tanuki, a new guardian deity, Tsugumo, arises. After dying as a fox cub, he was reborn to become a god and is still at a very tender age. While taught about the laws of life and the usage of divine forces, he innocently takes to Yoichi. "I love you, Yoichi. I want to be by your side forever and ever." To Yoichi, who has continued protecting the forest heftily in solitude, Tsugumo revives his long-ceased feelings.

An encounter between a kitsune who runs a udon stall and a man who sells tofu. When the man compliments the deliciousness of the udon, the stall owner is so ecstatic that the tail he is hiding pops out.
Shisei Gokumon
The gate that leads the souls of the dead into the Underworld is called "Shisei Gokumon." A watchman is stationed at the front and the back of the gate - the black Gozu and the white Mezu. They can only meet during the brief time when the gate is open. "I want to touch the ox-headed demon dyed in darkness." "I don't want to stain the pure white horse-headed demon." These two beings can never be permitted to touch each other despite their mutual affection. They are so close... yet so far. If they were human, perhaps this could be called "love."
Saru to Momo
A celestial monkey named Gokuu, Saiten Taisei, oversees the Celestial Peach Garden but only eats the peaches. When he runs out of ripe ones, he tries an unripe peach, which he finds disappointing and throws away. This peach rolls down to Earth and transforms into a human after ten years pass.
