Avel comes from a tribe who determines their gender at their first sexual experience. He'd always expected to become the chief, but after being saved by a member of the shark-descended rival tribe, Tukiri, the two are unexpectedly swept away by heat-like symptoms and mate. Now Avel has no choice but to be an offering to the rival tribe, but when he arrives, it's nothing like he thought. I liked this story more than I thought I would, but the mystery they build up around why the tribes do things the way they do has a disappointing conclusion, imo. Toma is an adult man who helps his grandpa with his work as landlord of a complex, and lately that has meant waking up his tenant, Kaoru, who never gets up in the morning without Toma's help. Kaoru eventually suggests a physical relationship to Toma, but Toma isn't interested in something so shallow as "fuck buddies" after having his heart broken in the past. Pretty good, but the ex just didn't make any sense as a character so he kind of took me out of the story. Trigger warnings: dubcon, homophobia, lying/manipulation, cheating.

When Fujii Takahiro and Kotou Tarou were in high school, the two didn't get along. So how is Fujii supposed to make sense of his life after he gets amnesia and wakes up as a 19 year old living with Tarou? The story weaves between the past, showing how the two moved from friends to more interspersed with Takahiro grappling with his attraction to someone he's trying to see as just a friend. This one is a classic to me and I think it's one of the best written yaois I've seen as far as pacing and character development. Trigger warning: incest themes.

Bon is an office worker in a relationship with top salesman Daiki, but he can't think of anything good about himself, so he assumes Daiki must love him for his phenomenal sex skills. The series shows Bon's efforts to change himself so that Daiki will love him for more than just his slammin' bod. Silly smut. No trigger warnings.

Sequel to Futari de Papa Hajimemashita, Nogi and Aoyama are now in love and taking care of the very cute Tsumugu together. Aoyama's new neighbor happens to be another single dad with a son Tsumugu's age, and the two become fast friends, but Aoyama is wary of the other single dad's motives when he admits to being bisexual and says he'd take better care of Aoyama than Nogi. But ultimately, both Aoyama and the other single dad have to realize it takes a village to raise a child, but they do have a village supporting them. Cute continuation of a very sweet couple. No trigger warnings.

Fourth in the Kuroneko series. Shingo and Keiichi have recently moved in together and are more lovey dovey than ever, but when Keiichi's brother suddenly arrives, treats Shingo like a servant, and brings his son to move in for their stay in Japan, things start to get strained. Keiichi wants to defend Shingo as the person he loves, but meanwhile, Shingo doesn't want to see Keiichi throw away his family. I like the cute nephew, Rio, a lot, but Keiichi's behavior in this one is pretty awful, even if he is trying to defend Shingo. Trigger warnings: controlling behaviors, rape.
