I think it takes a skilled author to have me going back and forth between "Haru is such a good friend and takes such good care of him!" and "Dang, Haru's kind of an asshole," within a few pages. Sugahara is sweet and takes good care of her, making her think he sees her as a child, but when she tries to quit her job to move on to other things, she learns that is very much not the case. Ch.1-4 - Matsukawa tries very hard to make himself look good. That's why it irritates him so much that his kouhai, Yuuki, is so handsome without even trying, and even with his bad attitude! But when Matsukawa helps cover for Yuuki, he learns that Yuuki really looks up to him, and perhaps even more. No trigger warnings. Ch.5 - Akari is a sex slave designated by the Tokoyoda family to service the god they have trapped who keeps their family wealthy. Akari dreams of escaping with the god, whom he calls Hinata, even as his eyes get redder, the sign that preceded the deaths of all those who came before him. This is a unique and interesting story, though it deals with upsetting themes. I think it's worth a read. Trigger warnings: statutory rape, attempted rape.

Asagi works at a company for the mascot Docky while hiding his love of cute things, and Docky specifically, ever since a bad breakup with his boyfriend. Meanwhile, he gets along terribly with his coworker Iwamoto until Iwamoto comes to his house to help him while Asagi's sick and sees all his Docky merch but doesn't seem to mind it at all. After that, the two become closer and Iwamoto gives Asagi the courage to come out of his shell and publicly share his love of Docky, but Asagi is worried to get too close because he's gay and Iwamoto isn't. Kuroba is a former boxer who gets a job at a strip club where he meets their #1 dancer, Kaede. Though Kaede says he's dating one of the other dancers, Kuroba finds him entrancing, and he sees how Kaede struggles with the more extreme aspects of the stripping and pseudo sex demanded of him in his job. Kuroba offers to help as a "plant" in the shows with the pseudo sex, and Kaede agrees, forcing him to acknowledge that he sees Kuroba differently from other men, even as he continues to try to push Kuroba away. A well-written story that gets into aspects of overcoming trauma and pushing forward in life. ️Trigger warnings: violence, mention of stalker, mention of gangrape.
