The vampire Ed took in the child Phil on a whim, but now that Phil is growing up, Ed begins to feel uncomfortable around him. When Phil confesses his love to Ed, Ed kicks him out, only to regret it when he realizes what Phil will face without him. Interesting and a quick read. When Shuri lost his family as a child, he was taken in by the vampire Hisato who raised him. Now an adult, Shuri is in love with Hisato, but he knows that Hisato gives the same kindness to everyone while saying, "I love you, but you are not my heart," as he searches for the one human who he'll truly love enough to give his heart so that he will die with them. But when Hisato is asked to have Shuri move out so he can stay integrated with human society, the relationship between them starts to change. I'll be honest, I've read this like 3 or 4 times, and I'm still a little confused about the ending. I just don't understand Hisato's character and why he does what he does. Trigger warnings: incest themes (guardian x ward), murder, suicide.
