I think this piece will always have a special place in my heart for letting me get the blossoming of love between two people with such difference in age. More than just the romance, it’s also a heartwarming story of seeing two good people finally come together once they get past skirting around a “socially iffy” topic. Lots of misunderstandings, unnecessary hurting, and second-guessing could have been quickly resolved or entirely avoided if both parties just communicate their thoughts and feelings to each other. But, as we know, it’s never easy as people react differently to such straightforwardness and it’s daunting to just put your mind’s inner workings out there. And that’s what I loved the most in this story! Seeing that process — how Akira and Goto each interact, grapple with, and respond to their personal thoughts then reflect it in their actions and exchanges with each other — got me to know them as a person of their own and let me better empathize with similar characters as well as with people in real life. Also, it’s wonderful seeing the same process unfold differently when they were only thinking on their own versus when they finally conversed and were thinking together! I mean, I have read many which I also really liked that also touched on age difference as a major element in the storytelling, but it’s clearer to see when there’s less angst and heavy backdrop. Thus, I find to be a great primer to build up on (and reference to) in reading more complicated, heavier, or darker literature with age or generational gap as a major theme or issue. (´・ω・)・．* ｡ ︎
