Everyone Stand Up! Boys Love Private High School
Owaranai Yujou to Katakoi-ron
Great storytelling. It helped me broaden my narrow perspective on the new kinds of relationship that’s emerging in popular culture today — not that they never existed before, but were simply hushed down because of the kind of society we had back then. You know, I still felt that pang in my chest when I see characteristics that I am uncomfortable with in real life that were shown here (i.e. vague boundaries, physical relationships outside dating, stubbornness of either partner when it’s clear there are mutual feelings), but I grew to understand…quite immediately after finishing this manga. Different people, different circumstances, different needs and values, different relations. Already knowing that, it probably should’ve been obvious to me already that this (universal) concept also applies here. I guess it was just hard to do so when we don’t expose ourselves to our biases, prejudices, and such. Couple that with being engulfed in the generalizations and stereotypes we’re shown to by the media. I’m really happy to have read this and I think it’s a good opener to people who were like me on these perceived issues.
