Jikyuu Jisoku de Nani ga Warui
Gave 4 stars cos there were some problems with consent at first since rin wanted to back out, but how their relationship progressed (for something that’s smut) wasn’t bad. Sex scenes were really good too.
My Little Inferno
I always knew asada nemui’s works always had elements of fucked up in it (I remember that one with the priest or the brothers lol) so I feel like I have a small bias, but ofc sexual assault is still a no no. It’s crazy how japanese BL make it seem so romantic both in best and worst ways possible. Despite that, I would say that this manga was a bit lacking in the romance department, but I think this is attributed to their more realistic carefree personalities and expressions. I actually like ma-kun’s expressions when he finds something about hitoshi amusing.
Suki de Gomen
I was sure I read this before but it’s been rotting in my want to read so I finally did read and it was meh. Haruto’s feelings for him came out of nowhere, it was so unconvincing to read because how tf you gonna catch feelings for him just by observing him for a few times not even a flashback about how his feelings were developed or a long-time observation on kouta. They also used that “I don’t like guys, but I don’t mind if it’s you” trope lmao. The story relied on basic date stuff and lack of communication so it’s not that special. They’re both the problem tho. On haruto’s part he shoulda just said no to the other girls, like idgaf if you’re kind, be kinder to your partner and give them the reassurance that they need (to a reasonable extent). On kouta’s part, since he has low self-esteem and low self-worth, it’s like he doesn’t allow himself to be upset because there are others “better” than him out there, when in fact he was the one chosen by haruto. It doesn’t seem like a lack of trust on kouta’s part even though that was what was said, he’s just too timid to say anything. Also fyi for people looking for yaoi (as it is tagged here) they do only have sex 1 time and focused more on the couple’s relationship so it would have been better if this was mainly tagged as shounen-ai aside from yaoi.
Muri Marriage
This was really good though as an annoyance to lovers trope worshipper their fights and tension with each other really spiced things up. The sex scenes were really hot too because of that (or maybe I was in the mood for smut lmao idk). I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that chikage was a simp for shirakawa all along and that they were actually kind of in the same boat already lmfao. Though I kinda wanted a teensy tiny more development before they confessed to each other. Lot of adorable scenes and it’s sad tabata didn’t have a side story where he finds another person to love or sumn. Good read.
Terano-kun to Kumazaki-kun
Don’t judge a book by its cover! I love me some delinquent bottoms for sure cos they’re always the cutest. They be fucking like crazy tho so more sex than plot for sure. I found nishiki amusing even though he was an asshole trying to break them up after knowing. Short and light-hearted.
Codename Anastasia
Was really excited for another secret agent BL, but honestly this is not that well-written. MC is such a liability as a spy because he does not know how to act as someone who is undercover and is too suspicious when he blurts out observations that are supposed to be analyzed internally (e.g., when he got kidnapped, if you were a trained spy you probably would not expose yourself like that). Another issue is he trusts too easily; exhibit A: telling ML all his personal shit when he’s seen firsthand how that man is a powerful, crazy, sadistic, and shady man. I know the mission is above MC’s qualifications, but I feel like it is basic for an undercover agent to possess a sense of caution and danger. Aside from that, be warned that there is straight sex in this. I don’t mind it when it’s 70% plot, 30% smut, but this kind of turned me off since we’re obviously not here for straight sex lol. I will still keep reading this since I’m still curious to see where the story goes and if I’m right about ML’s intentions. Will binge once it has a substantial amount of chapters.
Boku to Koi no Hanashi wa Shinaika
I really liked how even though the plot started with the love at first sight trope, it was paired with the really ridiculous and unserious art style and I really am here for that. This manhwa will guarantee you a good time and I’m excited for updates because they are adorable af.
Dawn of the Dragon
I definitely have mixed feelings about this one. It’s not bad, I liked it more when we were getting to the flashback parts cos now we get to know more about the plot and how hyo-un and taehyuk’s fates tied together in the past. There are a few plot holes but it’s not that noticeable or you would question it for a second but then just move on. I think the only major problem I have is that there are a number of sex scenes that start out as dubcon/noncon, especially during the flashbacks. It is what it is but again just a warning for other people out there who do not like this. Another concern I have (but it really is up to the interpretation of the reader) is that taehyuk in the past has definitely built a father-son relationship with hyo-un which gives the moral dilemma of a romantic and sexual relationship even though technically hyo-un wasn’t a “child” child, just had the maturity of a child (even in present time). Let’s also add the brother’s obsession over taehyuk lol. Anyway, curious for the next updates and I am praying for taehyuk’s past, present, and future bussy cos hyo-un is too big
