Unfather
I read this once before and my younger self rated this a 5 for some reason so I wanted to try reading it again. I knew the drama was nasty and the characters were dipshits, but I can’t even get past chapter 7 just because I was already cringing at the MC’s acting. I also felt bad for the junsik dude he seemed sincere with his feelings, but I don’t remember if he’d have the same possessive feelings like the old guy. This was 7.8 for a reason I really shouldn’t waste me time on it anymore lmao.
Otoko Yamome Mo Hana ha Saku
Bit sad there weren’t any spicy scenes but shounen-ai does fit more with the overall vibe of the story. I’m always here for old men experiencing love !! This was so wholesome and cute it made my heart hurt
Jackass! - Sawatte Ii tte Dare ga Itta yo?
Jackass is such a fun manga, I’ve read this a bunch of times before already, but this is the first time I’ll be actually writing a comment for it since it’s been years. I’ve really always adored the main couple because I’m really into bottoms like Keisuke, very soft on the inside albeit being tough and resistant on the outside. The whole manga was light-hearted despite some drama and overthinking here and there. Now since I was younger when I first read this, I never thought much about why students and teachers could not be in romantic relationships, so here comes my issue about Katsumi and the doctor, like girl bffr I came back to jackass because there was a spin-off about Hosaka and Miyoshi and I was flabbergasted with their age gap. I saw a comment saying they were also from jackass (my brain cannot remember anymore) so I reread it and to my surprise, there was not only 1, BUT 2 ephebophiliac relationships in this universe. This isn’t really the first manga Scarlet Beriko wrote that had age gap in it, but the age gap in this being twice the age of highschoolers is criminal so I’m just gonna pretend the 2nd couple does not exist; I give my whole heart to Keisuke and Masayuki.
Hosaka-San to Miyoshi-Kun
This is a spin-off of a side “couple” from Jackass. Couple is in quotation marks because it didn’t really explicitly portray the two of them having any romantic relations at all by the end of the manga, just some minimal flirting going on on the side. First thing I’m definitely gonna say is that the age gap is too big. I’m a huge believer in age is just a number until that number has barely even turned legal and is susceptible to grooming, 19 year old Miyoshi with Hosaka that’s pushing 40 Aside from the age gap, ofc the stalking and spying on Hosaka through his pc is already fucked up but Scarlet Beriko romanticizes it to the bone by making it the reason for Miyoshi feeling a deeper connection with Hosaka, working on his confidence, and knowing that Hosaka really really loves him. The stalker behavior is evident in another one of her works as well as far as I’m concerned. Anyway this just wasn’t it. If everything was reached by normal means though, I’m sure the romantic scenes would have hit and that’s the only reason it has 2 stars.
