I think the title is supposed to be “To You in the Mire” since that’s a common expression that makes sense for the situation (and sounds better than Swamp) - which is basically that the main character can’t escape (or feels like he can’t escape) from an abusive ex (Jace) who was the reason he dropped out of college.
It looks like the sweet, straightforward, respectful freshman (Avery) is going to be end-game and not Jace. Not getting the sense that the ex is going to have some kind of redemption arc even if he realizes his feelings - he does not care about the main character all, just wants to use, dominate, and control him, doesn’t care whether he’s in pain or not, doesn’t care if he consents or not. :(
