Oh! My Assistant Webtoon
-stopped on ch. 44 Seriously, this manhwa pisses me off. From the cover, I thought it would be about a prodigy assistant becoming the love interest of a webtoon author (that may have ended up doing BL b/c he wasn't doing well), but it wasn't; in the end, the love interest is a frivolous, gay man like how many BLs love to pin them. Then, we get the biphobic comment on 'This is why Bisexual people are scary' based on the context that they have 'great stamina' and will sleep around with the two sexes willy-nilly. What the hell is this manhwa-ga thinking? There's just too much I personally despise about it, but I will say that the manhwa-ga did a good job establishing the questioning Seonho in terms of sexuality. Though, other than that, I found this extremely disappointing. I'm just saying… ch. 40 would have been a perfect way to end this…
Too Close
-stopped on: ch. 126 Ch 111 I LOVE XU ZE’S MOM I reAlly liked that little symbolic(?) touch of when Xu Ze spotting Tian Yu, studying with a girl even though he's "too busy" & wants to study by himself, and showcasing his jacket that says, 'GREEN', which we can guess from its common meaning for jealousy.
I will be waiting for you in 1999
Why is this even tagged as a Shounen Ai? The entire story seemed to lead up to that kind of ending, but once you get to Bai Ming's heart issues, you're wondering if they're a rival and where this is even heading. The ending is pretty unsatisfying. I would have actually preferred it if Ming Qi was a murderer's son because it would've been something unique. Not only that but as they try to instill strength & finding independence in dependency--which I'm guessing is the whole moral here--it's horrifically done. We see this whole dispute over Tang Yuan and Xiao Xin, whom we literally can't understand why they're supposed to be this "in love" couple that needs to make amends, and we're supposed to accept that the only solution is for Ming Qi to take the verbal abuse and for Tang Yuan to just be okay with that and not lash back? To even want her back when we don't even understand why? Why the hell couldn't we find Shi Yi? How does that even make sense? For him to suddenly disappear and for his family and friends to not find him ANYWHERE?? And, we're supposed to be satisfied with that? I might've been okay with being tricked into reading it for the supposed "Shounen Ai"--and POSSIBLE queerbaiting (only IF the manhua-ga was aware of how this was being marketed)--had the ending not been so messy and rushed. The story wasn't bad going into it, but they just left the ending with having too much left to be desired.
Whose Baby is it?
stopped on: ch 313 182 - Okay, Elon Musk The whole A and Yu Ai drama leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It's clear Yu Ai has some problems he needs to get through because what the whole of his childhood with A showed me was that he was grooming and making A dependent on him. Now, if A chooses to be with him, it's because of this idea that he "needs" him because he's the "only" person that knows how to take care of him when in reality Yu Ai had not given A the opportunity to learn how to do things himself. This isn't okay and Yi Yun was right to be incredibly uncomfortable about it and to respect A not wanting to speak to Yu Ai. Yu Ai's whole thing about A being the only person that knows him is BS because of course he does, he spent his whole childhood with you! Yu Ai likes having created someone that is entirely dependent, needs, and won't abandon him because that is what he fears as he doesn't share any blood ties with the people that take care of him. He hasn't made the effort to get to know other people. Other people are also more than capable of understanding you when given the opportunity and time to, but he's not of sound mind and needs some major therapy...... - - - I feel like all the characters in this manhua are trapped in a BL universe....
I'm Banging My Rival From A Parallel World!?
