Naked Sword and the Tree Peony of Black
strong 4, not bad at all, just not something for me, leads were written like men with neither being overtly masculine nor overtly feminine. I like that the seme totally has an uke vibe around him but it doesn't feel forced and it still works, would be better though if they switch. I dunno, I just want it for the party who's more persistent to be the bottom coz if you're the one who wants it so bad in the first place, then you ought to take most of the strain for that activity too, that's my logic behind that preference. also seke couples in BL are extremely rare, this could've been one of those gems, it has great potential. What I don't like in this though is that the women here are treated like nothing, not even human, the few interactions they have with them, they're always rude to them for no good reason, and eventhough both leads got married (and then divorced), the women they married were treated like tools for their own little childish games, not even for the sake of reproduction, nor inheritance, or something majorly significant, it's just due to some petty reason that's all about one another n crap. I'm also not a fan of instantly turning 180 after the establishment of relations, specially for works like this one where the development took years to bear fruit, it just seems off for me, like I'm not reading the same story with the same characters. Anyway, I couldn't attach myself much either to the characters nor plot, which is why the most I can give for it is 4, I actually think 3.5 is better but I like the art style.

one of those story that's just slightly above meh. I dunno, there was just too much drama for the sake of drama and tbh, very minimal plot happened. I feel that the author wanted to have more plot, but they just went with all the drama instead. Like the thing about the seme not revealing who he is to the uke, I don't get it, what was the point of that? he wasn't being chased for his previous identity, he already served in prison for taking the uke's place, nor was the mafia tracking down people from his past trying to eliminate them, matter of fact, there were some panels that basically said they didn't mind him fooling around with a male prostitute (uke) also his assistant(?) literally knows his past and relations with the uke, so why not make the right person know about it too? he literally said it to his face that he's still waiting for him and even asked in an expectant manner if he was that same boy. The most coherent reason that I got is that he doesn't want the uke to feel repentant since he was the one who chose to take his place, but he coulda answered some of his letters and said that himself so that the uke wasn't left hanging which btw, just made the uke suffer even more coz he wasn't able to leave the island due to him waiting for seme, hence making him resort to prostitution, which funnily enough, just made the seme's effort seem futile coz he saved him from one rapist, but still had to endure another one for years; they could've just left that pedo's body to be discovered by other staffs, it was only the seme who noticed that the uke was being called into the office anyway, and he was the only witness too. Also that ending was sooo cliche, the seme was in coma for what seems like months, then whadda u know, he was quick enough to jump into action the moment the uke was in danger, also they ran away just like that? really? considering the seme's value to the mafia, they just let him go like that? I might just be taking this too seriously coz, it did seem promising but ended up lacking for me. Beautiful artsyle tho and very sexy uke with hot seme, good combo.
