I Don’t Want To Be Duke’s Adopted Daughter-in-law
The title is so misleading..didn't she immediately agree to being adopted? I mean with a condition ofcourse : the servants should be fired in the orphanage, (they neglect their duties and indulge in gambling while the orphans have to fend for themselves). The fl is pretty with blonde hair and green eyes while the ml has black hair and blue eyes. The MC is currently 13 years old in this life with the name 'Ellie' and the ML is two years younger with the age of 11 going by the name 'Damien'. The MC is the daughter of a famous thief who stole jewelleries from the Emperor's treasury and was found in a Count's residence and comitted suicide or was executed (not sure the translation differs on each chapter). So the MC was brought back to the orphanage countless times because her mom was a thief. The empire has two Dukes; one in charge of commerce and the other - war. The former is the father of the ML and the latter the adoptive father of ML. The two Dukes were close friends. They commanded such power that rivaled the power and authority of the Emperor and on top of it all they were friends so they were a threat to the Emperor. So he ordered an assassination on the ML's parents, framed as a carriage accident of some sort but the ML survived. The ML led a hard life, being treated as a slave and an entertainment for some nobles who dabbled in illegal acts. He also had a master who unsurprisingly abused him. The MC is isekaid so she knew of the book's plot and helped the ML. At first she just ignored him and did not take part in bullying him as the og Ellie took part in bullying him and was kicked out of the orphanage and froze to death. Then the look on ML's face reminded her of herself so she helped him. The ML is already whipped for her and the MC is a sweet older sister to him rn and I love that dynamic. It will change in time but I like it. The MC also "accidentally" ran into the duke and subtly told him that there were five boys with black hair when the orphanage only showed him four boys, he figured they were hiding the real child of his friend. Also he decided to adopt the MC as well as his daughter-in-law. The issues in this story is so minor and so stupid. Like a man trying to frame the MC of stealing a jewel by ordering a maid to put it in her pocket. And all this would magically make sense considering her mom was a thief so that inturn makes her a thief. The MC ofcourse put it back in his pocket without him knowing therefore turning the tables on him. Idk if I should call her a girlboss but that didn't even make me blink. Also there seems to be some mystery with the MC's pastlife, it doesn't seem to be the typical modern world's setting. Also the Duke is reminded of a woman (his lover?) everytime he sees the MC so there is something there. Maybe MC has a secret to her birth.
Born As the Daughter of the Wicked Woman
Yeah..this is the most mid manhwa I have ever read. It's so incredibly fast-paced and everything seems to happen in 2x speed. One moment, they feel one emotion and traumatized the next they are seemingly over it and forget it then when the plot needs them to be sad again, they are. The MC is so confusing, she is not strong mentally and physically. Also I never thought that her legs would be such an important deal in this story, don't this kind of things get resolved easily? Also it feels like the author is squeezing the heck out of this story. It's so dry and so unoriginal, also we had to have the crown prince as the second male lead, didn't we? If he couldn't be the ml, might as well be the second ml, huh? Also the MC is so dumb and annoying, a goddamn child. Her being so naive and being convinced that staying silent would make everything alright, her resolving to do something and losing heart and the will to carry on, then wishing for love but consider herself undeserving of such love. Her being so traumatized was unexpected..she was an adult before afterall. The ML is the typical male lead..black hair but not red eyes..he has purple eyes with his pupils resembling that of a lizard. He is deeply insecure about this characteristic. He was trained as an assassin and lived a life of abuse. Until he is saved by the MC. Also his change in demeanor and attitude was too sudden and felt disjointed, how he trusts people so easily and all. The crown prince was born out of love of his parents so the path of an unloved child with trauma of being discarded has been removed. However to compensate for that, we have his deep complex about not having golden eyes. FYI Golden eyes are a symbol of royalty and he is the only member of the royal family in all it's long history to not possess this trait. So he gets angry at the MC for having one. The same thing happened to og fl for having golden eyes. The way Chloe easily accepted the MC as her daughter and is loving her unconditionally is such poor writing. That can happen but it should be gradual. Also what potential does she see in MC? I seen nothing..nada. She dumb, weak and too dependent on other people, she also has no guts.
I'm a Villainess But I Became a Mother
Bitch what the heck is this nonsense? It's a Japanese shoujo manga so ofcourse the MC is useless and gets caught in the most cliche troublesome situations and the ML rescues her gallantly. The thought process of the characters are so..ugh how do I say this? Just pure illogical thinking stemming from misunderstandings after misunderstandings. The MC knows the content of the book that she is in but still follows the plot regardless, she didn't even make an effort to change it. She's like 'It's fate' and she is like so weak to the ML..if he stares at her with puppy eyes or shows her affection, she loses her resolve. That's how she got pregnant eventhough it's clearly stated in the novel that the Duke and the Villainess spent a night together. Or how she started avoiding him but when he stood outside in the rain, she runs to him and gives him a place to stay and is troubled by his condition. When he showed his yandere side, she started shaking and trembling, and is scared but the next day she tries to tell him that she loves him and that it's all a misunderstanding. Then she sees him gazing at the og fl affectionately and kissing her and she runs away thinking 'how could I be so stupid?'..and in ch12 when she sees him again..she thinks that maybe the whole situation was a misunderstanding.
I Was Reincarnated as a Baby Fox God
Maybe it's because of the success that 'Into the light' brought, that manhwas of the same and eerily similar plot pop up everywhere. Last time, it was 'Ashtarte' and now..this. Anyway, the MC was a princess of an Empire. Although far in line for the succession to the throne, she was greatly favoured by the Emperor as evident in him appointing the most promising knight as her escort and not the crown prince's. She is also often told by her dad "Only if you were a man". The MC who is a gullible and trusting person blindly believed that her and her brother were close despite how sibling dynamics in royalty works. She came across her brother killing their dad in cold blood, and because she was a witness, she was also killed along with him. Now the MC has a question about this, Why? He was the crown prince and therefore his ascension to the throne was undeniable and expected. Yet he killed the Emperor regardless. He also framed her for the murder and used her supposed mental-illness as a probable reason for the crime although there has never been a case that involved her mental state before. He further said that she herself commited suicide. Now this seems fishy no matter which side you look from, but people seem to blindly believe it or they just don't care enough to question it. Now the MC is reincarnated as a divine beast, she was in her egg for ten years and her egg was half the size of a normal egg. There are three taboos that concern divine beasts : not to be involved too heavily in human history, not to reveal that you are a divine beast and not to fall in love with a human. Now we all know where this is going, this is a premonition..an omen that the ML is that escort knight and they will have a relationship in the future. All hints point towards it, maybe there will be a second male lead every reader will fall for further down the line. But he's the only potential love interest we have rn. He puts his name (reputation, since he is the hero of the empire and the best knight) to request the Magic tower to send a mage to investigate the truth behind this incident. Also, the MC's current father is also a divine beast but his human form is the reputed Grand Duke and her brother is the Master of the Magic Tower. Seems on brand with the whole 'everyone love me' trope. Seemingly, the ML has gone mad since her death. My feelings towards this manhwa is not too strong. It is OK. The MC doesn't seem smart and seems like the typical female MC in a historical setting as a princess. The male lead is also in the trope of being the best knight but a commoner who rose to the ranks with nothing but his sword. He was distant to the princess while he was her escort knight but he obviously likes her if he is being this affected by her death and considers it an injustice.
I Became the Villainess in an Anticlimactic Novel
Heck! It's fast as hell. What has it been? 6 chapters and the characters dynamics are established and we had to have that scene where the two love interest are clashing over something silly with the MC in the middle with her having no idea what's going on. I hate that. So it seems like the ML, ie the Grand Duke has some kind of history with the MC from the previous life. He said that even though they have different faces, that doesn't mean that they are different souls. And in his memories, the picture in his mind is that of the MC in her past life with her Korean face. How is that possible? Probably has to do with the Gods.. The ML has been searching for her all this time. The clues given are..that his dog which actually has three heads Cerberus appears to have only one head to common people because of an illusion casted on it, but only people having contract with the demons or the MC can see through it. Another is her habits, how she rolls her eyes when obssessed over something, puckering her lips when she's stressed and eats little breakfast, and has to drink chamomile tea because of her motion sickness. This story is a typical isekai/reincarnation manhwa that follows the same plot as all others. There are more than one love interests, there is something about her that attracts people, etc etc.
The Way the Mage Faces Death
The story is easily digestible, very easy to follow and the art is neat, not too busy but does what it needs to do. The dialogue isn't the best but it seems like a normal conversation among people of their age group. I like that there is a reason behind every action. The Dean is very suspicious tho I can understand his actions towards our MC. Him binding her so she doesn't go out of control, with the added info given by the MC that it is a forbidden act and is considered taboo to bind another person. A person can bind themselves or the crystals in their magic staff restricts them but not another person. That is reserved for monsters. The ML is the Duke, right? At least he isn't a douchebag, he is a gentleman in all ways. Like he treats her with the way a lady should be treated despite her constant harrassment. He is also true to his words, doesn't go back on them and is very diligent. I like him. He is starting to take notice of the MC but it's so natural, with her acting the way she does and attracting all sorts of attention towards herself, that is bound to happen. The old Melissa isn't too bad, just a spoiled tsundere brat. Her being a bird is so unexpectedly adorable? I love how it gets addressed what happened to the og soul in the body possessed by the MC. The former Magus, MC's master is such a hard person to pin down. He seems to be a good person but it is clear as day the reason that he helped the MC was not purely because of his good will but the fact that she is a prodigy who already had a mana core when others had to go through the trouble of building one for months and years.
I Tamed My Ex-Husband's Mad Dog
I like it. It shows potential being only five chapters in. There is grooming involved so if it's a sensitive subject, beware. The fl turns back 15 years in time to her dad's funeral, the same day the crown prince announced the breaking of their engagement. We find out later that it was the wish of her dad after being told to go to war on the prince's behalf after a ridiculous request made by his beloved (a hostage of a duchy). The prince was obsessed with her and agreed to her request to take salt only from their duchy and not from other imports, which to noone's surprise led to a rebellion. This pretty much sums up the current drama. Also, our male lead is significantly younger than MC who lived a life of abuse and torture to the point he thinks that the cuss word "Fuck" is his name. He says this upon meeting the fl, "you called for me" as she cusses after being almost raped by a mercenary hired by one of her maids to accompany her to the place of her exile, a barren and cold place (also her mom's place). The ml does not know how to speak, write and is not aware of social norms. He licks the fl's wounds as a form of first-aid. He reacts violently to seeing people, a village of them. He only accepts goodwill from the fl. Now, to get into the nitty-gritty of this. The fl is not of sane mind, she is incredibly selfish in her pursuit for revenge and has no qualms in using a child to accomplish it. It seems she convinces herself that it is okay considering how the ml ended up in the previous timeline 'the war hero' and 'the crown prince's dog'. She also reveals that she knows his actual name and that he is the illegitimate child of the Emperor born of a minor noble called 'Krono'. On finding this out, the Empress ordered an assassination on the Krono bloodline, children, pregnant women etc weren't spared. Well except the target of her anger was able to escape. I think the fl treats him even better after finding out about his identity and plans to use him, she even thinks that her father granted her this life and had given him to her as a gift to get revenge on the crown prince. I doubt the father is that kind of man, he seems to only want good things for her daughter. On the first page, we see him calling his daughter by a term of endearment and promising her the noblest title following suit her becoming the crown prince's fiancee. The dude's a war hero hailed warmly by the public who mourned his death, he was a Marquise btw. Now the grooming part, it is safe to say it is grooming. First, the age gap. Like Missy is a full adult, maybe a teenager in her current body but paired with her previous timeline, an adult. Secondly, the ml is a child who was abused. He thought his name was "Fuck", he puts his hands up to guard himself when he saw the fl lifting her hand tho her intent was to pat him on the head, he only accepts goodwill from the fl, she is the first one to show him goodwill, like it's a very imbalanced relationship to say the least. Thirdly, the fl although she intended to give him a warm home and teach him basic skills like writing or reading and speaking even, on finding out his identity, that line is blurred. Her selfish wish of revenge triumphs over her morality, and she fully intends on using him to exact her revenge. We can argue that because he is the bastard son of the Emperor, he was fated to live a bloodied life but even so..The fl can reverse the situation that will inevitably happen like in her previous life but does not do so. That does not cross her mind in the slightest, she plans on using him. A bit more merciful than the crown prince perhaps but it's a life of debauchery. Also their eventual relationship change as stated in the description. The ml ofcourse is in love with her tho it is up for debate, is it love it is it a result of many psychological factors playing into it? Uh..I just read a spoiler that said that the ml also regressed and that he planned everything and that he pretended to be child to gain the fl's trust, that he is a total obsessive yandere. Welp that changes everything. Tho I don't mind it, I think it is a bit cowardly of the author to add that in maybe for fear of being accused of promoting grooming? I don't know but it could have been an excellent commentary on grooming and male grooming in particular. People are blind to the latter and accepts it as it is.
Legend of the Northern Blade
It is a typical martial arts story with a male lead who is hell-bent on getting revenge against those who have wronged him. What was a surprise tho was how quick he debated whether revenge was really worth it and at least thought if not considered about living a normal life in hiding. The Central Alliance and the Northern Sect, two organisations that were supposed to be side by side ended up in such position. The former created the latter by summoning (?) martial masters from across the globe to battle against the 'Silent Night'. But in the fourth generation that is the MC's father gen, the Silent Night supposedly disappeared after centuries of fighting countless battles, soon after there was internal struggle or dispute over control of the mainlands. The Northern Heavenly Sect had grown too powerful so the Central Alliance devised a plan that was possible through the betrayal of the brothers (not biological) of the Northern Sect leader. Politics..ugh..such is the way of the world both in reality and fiction. They are more concerned for themselves over the safety of the world and the people. They were granted the highest status befitting the role they played in the murder and framing of the Northern Sect leader. Tho it is an open secret that they collaborated as the leader was an honest man famous for that trait. I don't wanna dictate everything cuz noone but me will read it so just a review is enough. The Silent Night were said to be the perpetrators but that seems to be an assumption following how the story progresses. Also the MC while being OP is not the top dog. There is potential romance between him and Ha-Seol ( the next in line for one of the position of the Four Demon Lord of the Silent Night), he even named his Bewitched Sword after her so..My fav characters are between his Uncle, love his loyalty and dedication, and his first blade (?) who swore allegiance to him and spread the word that the MC was dead and supported him in the shadows.
There Is No Place for Fakes
No reincarnation, no immature adult pretending to be a child and ending up with a partner two times their age. The MC is very grounded in the way she operates, she doesn't accept the things that are described in the 'prophecy book' rightway but after things become eerily similar to the book including stuffs that are out of the norm, she is forced to accept her new reality and later..her future. She doesn't straight out of the gate transforms, it is a culmination of her desperate attempt to survive and she catches feelings for the Emperor and holds goodwill towards her nanny, maids and fiance. What I admire about her that is lost in other MCs is her tenacity to see things through, she sets a goal and works toward that goal, she doesn't cross the line and she is very mature and matter-of-fact in her demeanor. A comment stated that she was dumb to not realise that the people around her have started to view her in a favourable light but I disagree. Her diagnosis are spot on, if we were to be in that situation we would respond the same way instead of having a blind faith that things will magically be solved through love. The Emperor's change in attitude towards her was organic and I like that she is different from the Empress, like duh she isn't her child but it feels nice knowing that he loves her for who she is and not see her as someone else. The ml is also adorable. He is a nice kid and has manners, being chided by his father that he should behave properly and take care of the princess, he is very gentleman-like to the MC. We can also see him being a child with her confessing that he wants to be a hero, and talking as if from a script or repeating his father's words syllable by syllable. We can see a change in their relationship and how it progresses very clearly. He likes her very much and his expression gives everything away. He even seems sad when he thinks to himself that the princess is acting the way she is because he is her fiance. Him failing to give her the bouquet he had prepared was an 'aww' moment for sure.
Royal Marriage
