The Priest Dreaming of a Dragon
The translation is a bit wonky but the story is fresh to say the least. The MC is very pretty and the dragon and him have history, essentially the MC was the one who planted the seed of this whole situation. Starting with him telling the story of the evil dragon kidnapping the princess for ransom, to him suggesting that he do it 10 years later since the princess was still a child then. The priest is gay and someone with the looks that surpasses gender so the knight that came to rescue him also falls for him (after the priest clasp his hand and suggested they run away together). Which ultimately didn't happen since the dragon is like "He's mine". I have seen the dragon blush once and that was when the MC crawled on his back and touched him, the dragon also had an inner monologue "I'm a dragon so even if I were to mate, it would be with another dragon". So we can see that he is being affected by our MC's advances.
Boukoku no Emanon
This is very sub par. The MC was a slave who was saved and given a name 'Yona' by the second prince to a kingdom (the name of it I've forgotten). You know Asians and their obsession with fair skin, one Indian said it best "Being fair is so imp that you could have a missing eye but as long as your complexion matches the whites in your eyes, it's all good. But if you are in the tanner side, you have to be perfect..like having symmetrical face, luscious lips, cheekbones etc." It is made known to us multiple times in the manga that Yona is very beautiful, and that is because he's fair as fuck. The big question is : Is he Ed Sheeran level of white? cuz that shit crazyyy.. Anyway it's mentioned that he was named Yona cuz he reminded Al of white doves with his white hair and skin, serene eyes etc. The plot is plotting.. I guess. Like it's very standard trashy shoujo-yaoi that's reliant on tropes to make it be a story. The only good thing about the MC is his appearance. Like this guy dumb as fuck.. I guess men like their partners stupid regardless of gender. Anyways he mad gullible.. Believing that snake advisor when he said that he would send an army to Al if he slept with him. Like how you gonna trust that shady motherfucker? Also him being dragged by some maids then being dressed in that cloth that only covered his genitals (yess I said it) then randomly dancing since it would be awkward if he just stood there in front of everyone (I mean..to be fair it was a dancer get up, is there a fetish about dancers in the olden days? Was it considered exotic? Because this isn't the first time I've come across this trope and it's usually done in the scene when the dancer wants to attracts/seduce the ML) . This is obviously a dumb set up so there could finally be some action ᕦ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) between the two leads. Like some girl gave him aphrodisiac for no reason (they didn't even bother to give an explanation like they be like 'here a scene of Al getting Yona off by rubbing his dick a couple times'). They are engaged technically according to the seme's tradition since Al gave Yona his name then Yona gave something that's of importance to him.. without Yona knowing (that they're engaged since seme didn't think to disclose this info, then he has the nerve to be disappointed, HOW HE SUPPOSED TO KNOW? U DIDN'T TELL HIM MF) . It's giving Ross not telling Rachel that they're still married. I have a lot of opinions about their very unbalanced dynamic, like that boy a prince and u his slave.. I know he says he didn't wanna be just his prince and he his attendee yada yada. But the power level is insane.. Like his name alone.. Do u know the power a name holds? Like they say if you know the devil's name, you hold control over him(or her or them, whatever they identify as) . The same can be said.. His existence is like to serve him. He said so himself and seems to embrace it. Like noooo.. Even if the prince said some corny ass line about them being equals, ya really think that's gonna change shit? Hell nah!! Also the king high key hotter than Al, not gonna lie Al looks goofy as hell with this static face. Like it doesn't move..his face I mean. Also how hard is it to dismiss an adviser, I get needing evidence since he is of high position and has connections but he dumb as fuck. That don't add up. I know the king said it took having a very beautiful person to act as bait to catch him slipping.. But I don't know. That just seem so half-assed and is supposed to magically solve everything? What else? Oh.. The MC is from a tribe but no detail is given about it. Maybe the tribe is full of white people (Ed? You there?) It never got to that point since it don't need to apparently. It was mentioned in the last chapter the morning after Al fucks Yona's back off. The thing he's been searching for all this time was actually...dun dun dun dun Yona's tribe! Well.. I totally didn't see that coming(O_O). Also this rock faced ML is a manwhore.. Three girls at once? What is that.. Is it a sandwich? No that's three people him included, so an orgy but that don't make no goddamn sense. Also the smut scenes were not it..I'm sorry. The fact that it's black and white, their dick light sabers and the expression or lack thereof except blushing with their hand on their mouth. It's mid. Anyway yeah that's it for now.
You're All Dead if You Mess With My Brother
I get what the writer is trying to do but it just isn't working out for me. It's the same case as 'Beware of the Villainess', they are trying to make the FL be the bad bitch, calls out people's bs etc typa girl but it just gets repetitive since that's all they are. They try to make them relatable but they can still make the MC interesting tho. Can't we just get both instead of one or the other? The MC comes off selfish, entitled and uncaring towards her little brother. They could make her more complex, like her love for him slowly turning into hatred and really digging deep into the complicated emotional distress she is feeling as she keeps resetting for the 23rd time. The manhwa presents it as her trying her best initially then becoming unfeeling or numb over time but imo she never really tried. The first time she possessed this lady, even while knowing the owner of this body's brother is getting raped, she just sits by the sidelines and lets the novel take it's inevitable plot towards her brother committing suicide. Then the other times when she says she is doing her best, she just puts him in her line of sight thinking that everything will be fine. The later timelines, she completely ignores her brother and focuses on her pursuit of magical knowledge. In her 22nd life, as soon as she gets the gist with the sword and what not, you would expect her to spring into action yet she relaxes drinking tea then fires her maid (that poisoned her brother in one of the timeline). She also proceeds to call out her cousin the rapist on his behaviour thereby unhinging him that led to him killing her brother. Like what went in this dumb bitch's head? Like why would u unnerve this motherfucker who has been the cause of your little brother's trauma and expect him to just take it. No! He's going to retaliate and someone as powerless as him isn't going to take it out on you but your powerless brother, the only one beneath him. Man I am so frustrated with this hoe.. It's insane. Btw I read upto ch3 properly then read the first two panels or so of Ch4 then I dropped it. Also them constantly breaking the fourth wall gets on my nerves. This isn't the kind of story where that type of antics is natural, at least set it up for that type of humor. The story has been pretty serious so far so calling out the readers out of the blue isn't a good idea. Also I am left confused thinking if they are actually having this convo or that's just the author being silly.
The Devil
Oh man.. This legitimately scared me when I read it. Like the MC being so jealous of her twin brother to the strange air around them when they made eye contact. The twin brother seemed like the golden child to me so I just took it as jealousy from the MC over the partial treatment from their dad. Then when she made some kind of deal with the devil, the twin brother turned into some creature so I assumed that it was her fault but apparently not. We see the flashback of the nanny who looked after them as babies, it was revealed to us that there was something wrong about the twin brother. Like he would just stare at the MC without making a fuss (like babies tend to do?). One incident that scared the maid was when she was consoling the crying baby MC then her sucking her thumb, then the twin brother following suit sucking his thumb right after. Man that scene creeped me out. Also it seems to be a hereditary thing amongst the MC and her family since her mom was the first one to make a contract with the devil. Like she brought these weird statues of demons or coffins when she got married with their father (when she left her castle to move to her husband's castle). The twin brother is a demon from birth it seems.
The Essence
No. Just no. What is this?? The translation is horrible. There is no plot. The characters don't have a set trait, there is a seme and an omega so therefore they fuck and have a baby. The other points are just mere decorations to achieve that. He got himself an omega duplicate but still fucks him. Why would u willingly want to give birth if you had another option? It baffles me. Also the perfumer turning out to be the Duke who hardly showed his face in public spaces was so painfully predictable. I give up. The seme is in love with his essence so he puts up with the uke's request while trying to replicate his scent/ pheromone so he could smell it everyday. Also he talked about how their pheromones together are perfect. There is no romance. There is no chemistry. Plot? What is that? The rules of the English language has never sounded like this, it's bended so skillfully that it is hard to interpret for someone who was taught the traditional English with structures in sentence, verb, adjectives etc. It truly test the limit of an individual's capacity to form a story based on some key words. Also the uncensored dick was so..out of place? These people are posh posh so that took me out of the story (if u can call it that). Some panels are missing and it is chopped up so maybe I am not getting the full experience so confusion is all I am left with
Betrayal of Dignity
I am in love with this, when I tell you this is my new obsession!! Ah! I love the characters so much from Chloe to Damien to servant boy and her dad. This is my first time reading a manhwa centered around a disabled MC but I am enjoying every moment of it. To those people calling the MC weak, are u fucking dumb!!? This girl is the strongest female MC I have encountered in a minute! She has quick wits, graceful, dignified, kind and stubborn yet knows when to bend her knees. She is so refreshing, I wish she didn't spoil her little sister so much that she gets pregnant leaving her sister and father in complete ruin but she is the ideal elder sister so heyy no blaming. I love how she responds to every situation and matches the ML by butting heads with him every time they meet. The sister.. I don't want to waste my breath talking about her. The servant boy is such a nice person, he knew where he stood and did not cross the line. He even lied in court for her and what amazed me was that he went to the Duke to clear things up without even thinking about himself even once. The Duke is such an interesting character, he has so many sides to him. I don't hate him, in fact I like him. He does like the MC but she isn't the only thing on his mind. He is a very ambitious man aiming for the throne tho I don't blame him..the crown prince will only bring ruin if he ascends the throne. I got a bad vibe from him when I saw his interaction with Chloe, like the way he touched her shoulders wasn't very gentlemanly and the way his eyes sparkled when Chloe was being stubborn and asking him to take back his apologies made me feel a bit iffy. The Duke's mom was a nice character that subverted my expectations of someone of her stature. I expected her to be uptight, smart, and rule with an iron fist but this woman stupid as hell. Her getting angry at Chloe for pointing out that her two faithful servants had been stealing from them and not accepting it. Her being so cheerful and totally defenseless was quite a shock. The reveal was phenomenal! He set her up so she feels indebted to him and to manipulate her feelings for him. And it was executed so splendidly! I mean she was just unlucky but for him to ask his subordinate when he felt loyalty towards him and his answer was when he saved him so he played the role and now she is starting to like him. He has always been interested in her and I feel there is something behind him choosing her other than his fascination towards her but I like him being constantly impressed by how Chloe navigates through the traps or tests he sets for her and her coming on top every single time.
Kusuriya no Hitorigoto
Wait, what??!!! This isn't on my list? I lost my shit while reading this, there I was rambling and complaining that there were no good mangas/manhwas to read anymore and this treasure right here was waiting to be picked up. It's insane how each chapter managed to one up the other, I enjoyed the earlier chapters but the later parts were the best. One thing I dreaded going into this after I read the synopsis was 'genius female MC upstaged by the ML' or 'FL falling into the dumb pushover Cinderella role' as time went on. Luckily that didn't happen, instead the MC is the realist, is cold with it, grounded and her smarts is just out of this world. The ML whom I thought would be the smiley dude who pulled strings behind the scene and always has motives behind his every move is a softie. I like that the MC is so aware of the position she is in with being in the red light district (not technically) and does what she can with the things she has, like putting freckles on her face so she is deemed undesirable and can go under the radar. She admits that she isn't a "genius" like her bio dad who just knows stuff, she has to take everything into consideration and work things from there but her bio dad acts on instincts and can sus a person or situation out. The love story between her bio mom and bio dad was amazing, I thought he was a dickhead when he was first introduced but there is so much depth to him. Her bio mom waiting for him in her weakened state remembering and trusting him despite everything and the state she is currently in. Also the side characters are given so much flesh and their stories are so inspiring and sometimes hard to see. I like that there is a secret to the ML that the MC clearly sees yet she refuses to since she doesn't want to get in trouble (that's foreshadowing if I've ever seen one). My fav scene has to be the ML just slumped being lonely in a banquet where everyone is enjoying themselves yet he is thinking about our MC. He couldn't believe his eyes and had to do a double-take since she was dressed up and it was the first time he saw her without the freckles. The conversation that followed elevates it as well, we get an insight on her outlook about the red light district. She hasn't "served" anyone yet but isn't afraid of it and admits that the person in charge is probably biding her time to sell her off. She isn't sad, it's not the end of the world for her, just something that is inevitable. I think that shocks the ML a bit. He is so soft for her. Ahh! I ship them. Even though the road won't be easy, as long as they have eo.. They can survive anything.
I Think I Have Transmigrated Somewhere
Wow.. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. I like the dynamic between the main leads as well as the second leads. It's so very different yet equally interesting. Personally the main leads dynamic is my favourite because there's so much teasing going on, and the way they interact with eo is such a breath of fresh air. It's been a while since we've got an ML with personality!! I love that he has a sharp tongue, love that he trusts his instincts and love him overall. The MC gives me so much second hand embarrassment, yet I still come back for more. They are such engaging characters, truly the backbone of this manhwa. The romance is the main plot, but its sub-plots are very fascinating as well. I like that the MC's past is supposedly shrouded in mystery, the deal with White (what entity is he?) And that we have two regressors and a transmigrator. Also the ML isn't needlessly edgy or sketchy and moves with a purpose. I love how the MC just assumes stuff and just goes with it. I love that it subverted my expectations. It's so light-hearted and I love that it pokes fun at the genre it's in.. A parody of its genre. It reminds of Gintama in that sense. As someone well endowed in this genre, there's a sense of satisfaction in that I'm privy to the inside jokes made in this manhwa.
Steel Under Silk
I can't believe I didn't leave a review for this because I absolutely adored this when I read it. I'm thinking of starting it again after everything that's going on right now (CUET exam). I was on a BL craze back then, reading everything my grubbly hands could take a hold on. And the cover intrigued me because hello? It's so visually appealing. I always check the featured photos first so I could get a feel for the type of story I was getting myself into and I loved it. The top was everything I looked for in this type of BL manhwa so I was thoroughly satisfied but the bottom??!! The bottom was the icing on the cake, cherry on top.. He reminded me so much of Jeonghan from SVT and I was hooked from the get go. I love me a beautiful bottom. The plot itself though it holds its own, it's not the reason I carried on reading it till Ch30.. It was the characters, the dynamic and so forth. I could tell from the get go that the bottom's revenge was futile, that his motivations were misguided, that he was childish but that was one of his charming points. His temper was also another aspect that was adorable and charming even. By this point I was expecting the top to be head over heels in love with him, not knowing which way was left or right but he kept his heads on his shoulders and ngl that deterred me a little bit. It made me realize that this was going to be a slow burn manhwa and right then and there I needed a quick fix so I dropped it to pick it up at a better time. I know people clown on the Shakespearean language that is being used but honestly I find that it elevates the reading experience. The dirty talk is quite an amusing task to read through but nevertheless I enjoyed it.
