The Male Lead Monster Lives Under My Bed

Ongoing | | 2022 released

This was wholesome as hell. I like that the MC has gotten closer with her brother, he truly cares for her. The MVP is of course the slime. He is adorable, strong, kind and gentle. I have one question, does he not know that he is the Duke? Maybe he lost his memories. In the latest chapter, we finally see the Duke so I'm ecstatic to see how this will play out. Also I like that the evil maid's daughter Bella is actually a good person. Yay to that! The Duke is a stupid antagonist. He is so dumb.

I Became The Male Lead's Female Friend

Ongoing | 햇살수인 | 2022 released

A very typical story it seems. But I like the reason stated in the comments on why the ML didn't love the owner of the fl's body: he just didn't like her. It wasn't miscommunication or misunderstanding. He just didn't have any feelings towards her as far as anything is concerned. Sometimes things are that simple, not everything need some grand reason. Also there is something concerning the ml and his father? I really don't feel like reading this rn..I'm having a burnout from reading typical cliche stories. I might as well just read TCF but I'm planning on binging it and also, I'm currently having the CBSE board exam so it would be bad if I got too invested. Update (6/9/23) : I like this much more than I expected. The fl was a bit more childish than I expected but she is a decent MC nonetheless. Rudrick as a child was sweetness overload, especially him with long hair he looked as pretty as a girl (enough to be the MC's secretary first love). And when it was later revealed that he grew his hair out because his mom would comb his hair for him? Gah! I died. The second ML is so sweet and charming, he is so adorable. I also like that Rudrick didn't change too much though he was certainly traumatized. When he asked for Dahlia in that room and forgot about that handkerchief, I thought the story would go in a completely different direction. Thankfully it didn't. His father is a douchebag, he knew that his wife didn't poison his mistress but slapped her in front of all the servants and punished her to set an example for an 'insider' (he revealed all this to Rudrick). Also I have an issue with how Dahlia's family can be so cold to the plight faced by Rudrick's family. Considering how his family has so many problems, seeing Dahlia's family be so happy should've been so difficult. Her mother being his mom's bestie is so..how to word this? inconsiderate? naive? Like she should have helped her out, maybe she was so caught up in her little family bubble that she couldn't see how her bff was suffering. The way she looked so shocked and cried seeing the state she was in made me mad. I have one more question, at what age did Dahlia die in her past life? She seem to have unrealistic expectation of love. I assume she has never dated?

Reemployment Life With An Unsociable Untalkative Magician

Ongoing | Yokuu | 2019 released

Such a long title. Hope the fl is smart. That's it. Update (9/9/23) : This was such a pleasant read. Lucille is so mature and capable, she also doesn't poke in other people's business. I was worried about that at first because MCs in shoujo manga tend to be an airhead, clumsy and a damsel in distress. I agree with Deidei on the fact that she gives off older sister energy. Speaking of Deidei, I love that she decided to pursue higher education and grow out of her 'childish' phase learning from the five days experience she had under Lucille's wing. Straight away we can see that she likes Sensei, wanting to talk to him and blushing. When she admits defeat after she saw Lucille putting her hands together before a meal or was it after? Not sure.. That was funny. She is like a younger sister, so adorable. The amount of work that Lucille does is something no mortal man is capable but I loved that Deidei persevered. Sensei being a respectable magician is not surprising but him being the reason that the town specialty came to being was amazing. He could just flick his hands and the problem would be solved yet he decided that the townsmen should be able to continue it and be responsible for their future is commendable. That earned him being called 'Sensei' by the townsmen and a special bond between him and the town. I love how they react to him as well, they looked as if they would pass out when he visited their store and when he complimented their handiwork, the couple praised themselves that their effort was seen and so on. I like Raven as well. He isn't a douchebag who would spill everything about his co-worker to his master yet does the minimum for ensuring his well-being. Also I like how he admitted that seeing Lucille's and their master interaction was the only interesting thing happening in that otherwise boring household and has manners. I also like that he told her that he conducted an investigation on her by hiring detectives and said sorry if she found that creepy. What else? I hate the Master and Mistress but I find them amusing as well tbh. The Mistress called MC a thief yet wasn't even sure if her husband and her cheated (tho I get where she is coming from since she was a servant employed by them). The Master being deluded that Lucille liked him back when she was just doing her job like calling him 'Master', putting a forced smile while serving him, giving him tea when he coughed. The Mistress being flirty with other noblemen while she is worried that her husband might cheat on her. It was confirmed that he divorced her and replaced the servants so he seems to like her more than I expected. Sensei's and Lucille are honestly so wholesome, I like how comfortable they are around each other and care for eo.

A selfish and borderline-yandere seme? With a truly good MC? Yuh, that shit tasty. Atleast there is plot to support this already red flag dynamic so we won't be too sick with all the dust from the toxicity of the eventual couple. I won't lie, sometimes I dig this type of couple but other times I get very bitter and feel personally hurt from the level of power the seme holds over the uke or maybe in this case impose on the uke. It might turn out to be the former but my gut is telling me that it is the latter so I'mm sit this one out for now and look through some other manhwas. Update (11/9/23) : Finally I gave it a try and I loved every moment of it. Even in the most recent chapter (72) the MC's trauma is still ongoing. I do love consistency and it depicts reality as well. I like the team members, especially Joohyeok and the girl (I hate that I can't remember her name cuz I loove her). I was surprised with how casual she is with the ML since I was under the impression that he would be more cordial with everyone except the MC. Also might have to do with the fact that she is two years older than him and her personality type. Jian(the secretary girl) is always by the ML's side, she seems more like a lackey of ML than a colleague. I like the healer as well, he is so considerate and caring towards MC. I do like that the manhwa continuously reminds us throughout the series that the ML is a manipulative bitch (with his eyes, him being shrouded in darkness, how he reacts to the MC etc). We see things from the ML's POV as well but maybe it isn't as flimsy as he thinks it is. I wouldn't go as far as to say that he likes him, he would kill him in a heartbeat if it benefits him and he is constantly making sure that the MC is still within his control. I don't know what his next plan is but he isn't the type to give up so we'll see. Also side tangent- why are the villains so dumb? The Vice President (now President) was dumb as fuck, how did he get this far? I mean his mom's side of the family helped obviously but huh? And the Paradise next to be guild leader was also trash, he was such a small fry and doesn't seem to have a plan for anything honestly. Like what is this level of antagonist... I mean if this is intentional and is done to highlight that the real villain is the ML and the ways that the MC will come to his senses after he gets out of this funk and learn to get away from the ML, that would be a fun twist.

The Time When We Were Young

Ongoing | Yoon | 2019 released

I like that the MC is level headed and fairly reasonable, I hope that will continue throughout the manhwa and that trait of her won't change. Her real life problems are much more severe than the novel she is in so I understand where she is coming from. However her lack of tact made it almost unbearable for me to continue this manhwa even though I personally don't blame her. The four heavenly kings are based on 'Boys over Flowers' for sure, even Hwiyoung's face and personality screams Junpyo. Her knowing the tropes and cliches inside out was very hilarious and her being dumbfounded left and right by the impossibility of everything in the novel was refreshing. Some of which I won't question but because she is a renowned author and even received an award for literature, she is able to see the plotholes that I can't see. Her little brother is such a simp and the resemblance to her deceased lil bro is uncanny. What else? Her best friend is a bit much, I get where she's coming from but the ml is just your boyfriend's friend so why be angry at your bestie for it? All in all, I enjoyed it. Her best friend irl sucks, of course she would think it's her since she was the only one she told but she suffered all that bullying because she defended you and stood up for you, you bitch. She ended up miserable while the Ah-han is successful in life so whatever. I think I know who the ml irl will be, the man that saw her crying has to be it. I think he is also the person that bully liked in middle school.

The Rogue Prince Is Secretly an Omega

Ongoing | kkumool, Janghyeon, Seolmyo | 2022 released

I like the premise of this story but everything seems to happen for the sake of the plot. The Emperor and the Empress are a laughing stock, the influence of the Empress imo isn't that strong, she also seems very dumb. The ML is the best character for now, but he seems very naive. Like I would imagine him to find something amiss about the prince since he has known him for how long? But he only asked to conduct an investigation recently. All of his people are aware of his affections for the prince yet they don't seem to take him seriously either. I am so used to MLs in this genre no matter how easy going they are to have their subordinates take everything they say seriously. I understand that they think only an alpha and omega should get married, especially since he is a Grand Duke but them asking him "You're not doing this because of 'him', are you" rubs me the wrong way considering in the previous chapter they acknowledge that the Duke only attends parties where the prince attends. The characters are not the smartest, I guess it's better to write dumb or average characters since they are more predictable and you don't have to go through hoops so that they don't seem to be out of character. That's why Gege hates writing Gojo from JJk since he is so OP, he has to modify and think things through since he is a pain to write about since he could change things with just a wave of his hand. The MC being an omega and therefore living a life where he has to hide his identity since in the imperial family only an alpha can become an emperor is very sad but I wish he wasn't that much of a pussy. Like he is so easily pushed around. Istg when he woke up after being forced to eat those suppressants by his mother, and decided to use the back door since he didn't want to open the window(it would wake his servant who was sleeping after caring for him) which btw only the duke and him know the location of, I rolled my eyes since it was so fucking obvious that it was a way to make him meet with the ML. Also conveniently that's when the ML suspects him to be an omega, he even asks his subordinates if it was possible for a beta to smell like an omega and the obvious answer was 'no'. But there could be two reasons 1) there was an omega who passed by in that area so it was the residual scent/pheromone left by that omega. Of course this is ruled out since only him and the prince knows this place. 2) the omega mistakes himself to be a beta. They brush this aside since it was preposterous and such a thing couldn't happen. But not the ml, a lightbulb seems to go off in his head. I am worried tho that he will be too careless and that will cause the Empress to find out and cause more trauma for the prince.

The Priest Dreaming of a Dragon

The translation is a bit wonky but the story is fresh to say the least. The MC is very pretty and the dragon and him have history, essentially the MC was the one who planted the seed of this whole situation. Starting with him telling the story of the evil dragon kidnapping the princess for ransom, to him suggesting that he do it 10 years later since the princess was still a child then. The priest is gay and someone with the looks that surpasses gender so the knight that came to rescue him also falls for him (after the priest clasp his hand and suggested they run away together). Which ultimately didn't happen since the dragon is like "He's mine". I have seen the dragon blush once and that was when the MC crawled on his back and touched him, the dragon also had an inner monologue "I'm a dragon so even if I were to mate, it would be with another dragon". So we can see that he is being affected by our MC's advances.

You're All Dead if You Mess With My Brother

Ongoing | 몰포, Ena | 2000 released

I get what the writer is trying to do but it just isn't working out for me. It's the same case as 'Beware of the Villainess', they are trying to make the FL be the bad bitch, calls out people's bs etc typa girl but it just gets repetitive since that's all they are. They try to make them relatable but they can still make the MC interesting tho. Can't we just get both instead of one or the other? The MC comes off selfish, entitled and uncaring towards her little brother. They could make her more complex, like her love for him slowly turning into hatred and really digging deep into the complicated emotional distress she is feeling as she keeps resetting for the 23rd time. The manhwa presents it as her trying her best initially then becoming unfeeling or numb over time but imo she never really tried. The first time she possessed this lady, even while knowing the owner of this body's brother is getting raped, she just sits by the sidelines and lets the novel take it's inevitable plot towards her brother committing suicide. Then the other times when she says she is doing her best, she just puts him in her line of sight thinking that everything will be fine. The later timelines, she completely ignores her brother and focuses on her pursuit of magical knowledge. In her 22nd life, as soon as she gets the gist with the sword and what not, you would expect her to spring into action yet she relaxes drinking tea then fires her maid (that poisoned her brother in one of the timeline). She also proceeds to call out her cousin the rapist on his behaviour thereby unhinging him that led to him killing her brother. Like what went in this dumb bitch's head? Like why would u unnerve this motherfucker who has been the cause of your little brother's trauma and expect him to just take it. No! He's going to retaliate and someone as powerless as him isn't going to take it out on you but your powerless brother, the only one beneath him. Man I am so frustrated with this hoe.. It's insane. Btw I read upto ch3 properly then read the first two panels or so of Ch4 then I dropped it. Also them constantly breaking the fourth wall gets on my nerves. This isn't the kind of story where that type of antics is natural, at least set it up for that type of humor. The story has been pretty serious so far so calling out the readers out of the blue isn't a good idea. Also I am left confused thinking if they are actually having this convo or that's just the author being silly.

The Devil

Ongoing | 비 첸치,Ena | 2000 released

Oh man.. This legitimately scared me when I read it. Like the MC being so jealous of her twin brother to the strange air around them when they made eye contact. The twin brother seemed like the golden child to me so I just took it as jealousy from the MC over the partial treatment from their dad. Then when she made some kind of deal with the devil, the twin brother turned into some creature so I assumed that it was her fault but apparently not. We see the flashback of the nanny who looked after them as babies, it was revealed to us that there was something wrong about the twin brother. Like he would just stare at the MC without making a fuss (like babies tend to do?). One incident that scared the maid was when she was consoling the crying baby MC then her sucking her thumb, then the twin brother following suit sucking his thumb right after. Man that scene creeped me out. Also it seems to be a hereditary thing amongst the MC and her family since her mom was the first one to make a contract with the devil. Like she brought these weird statues of demons or coffins when she got married with their father (when she left her castle to move to her husband's castle). The twin brother is a demon from birth it seems.

Devil on Top

This is batshit insane. Pissing, whipping, rope play, master × servant etc.. This feels like a badly made doujinshi. The devil who is supposed to be in love with MC abuses him left and right. The MC is also an idiot and a dunce cuz no sane person would stay with this disgusting piece of shit (u could argue that he's afraid of the consequences but like the reason given by the devil is wack and when he tried confessing to him, he cuts him off and says 'Ohh! It's cuz of your devil powers, you are trying to purify me'). And we're given the explanation it's cuz he thinks Jacque cheated on his ass when 1) he lost his memories, 2) you didn't inform him of your relationship status before said memory loss 3) he was raped by that tentacle (supposedly a female, and a pretty one to boot). So he kicks him, steps on him, whips him, forces him into anal play, keeps a leash on him which is 2.5 metres long, and in the last chapter pisses on him and tells him to drink it. Ewwww! What the fuck! He doesn't love this guy, he enjoys torturing him and gets off on it, he's an actual sadist. No, he didn't do it cuz he thinks he cheated on him. The flashback and his current self do not make sense. He cried when he thought his love would die and stayed by his side for 10 plus years then turns around and tell him to drink his piss. No..next thing you know he's making him eat his shit too. I forgot to add that he forced him to eat his vomit (I don't remember that, maybe I blanked out but comments mentioned it. I thought he just threatened him) and made him drink his own cum (O_O)
