Our Tyrant Became Young
It seems to be a light hearted story with lots of gags and cliche plot. Another case of being reincarnated into a novel they read before dying, our MC is unfortunately a dunce. She ships the FL with a side character and remembers every interaction they had. The side character being the Emperor, the ML who has been turned into a child of the tender age of 4 years. He who is the strongest archmage has been left in a vulnerable position because he awakened his mana at nine years old, now he is only four years old physically. He calls the MC into the palace as the MC, who knows the plot and the characters in this world, now works as a seer and a prophet turning her knowledge as a reader into profit. So far nothing stands out to me. Not the plot, not the characters, nada. The MC, how do I say this? I'm not really in the mood to read a dumb MC who falls into interesting situations and is being pulled and pushed left and right by the plot. But it's really fun and hard not to have a jolly good time reading this. The MC's loyalty to the ML is very refreshing. Although there is the usual 'being pretty is everything' sentiment, the MC is strong enough to withstand that. Also, the long ass name she made up for herself is hilarious. Their dynamic is so interesting. The ML is so childish and immature with her, I loove it!! Him pulling her hair talking about how she left him alone to have a good time with the Count with his tiny hand and angry face..him saying that her head will be lighter if he plucks out her hair and the MC proceeds to have an epiphany and called him a genius! The look on his face..priceless!! I love how he calmed down when she said it was for him..that he told her it would be better to maintain a friendly relation with the Count so that's why she danced with him. He looked so grateful. Babyy~~
I Was Reincarnated as a Baby Fox God
Maybe it's because of the success that 'Into the light' brought, that manhwas of the same and eerily similar plot pop up everywhere. Last time, it was 'Ashtarte' and now..this. Anyway, the MC was a princess of an Empire. Although far in line for the succession to the throne, she was greatly favoured by the Emperor as evident in him appointing the most promising knight as her escort and not the crown prince's. She is also often told by her dad "Only if you were a man". The MC who is a gullible and trusting person blindly believed that her and her brother were close despite how sibling dynamics in royalty works. She came across her brother killing their dad in cold blood, and because she was a witness, she was also killed along with him. Now the MC has a question about this, Why? He was the crown prince and therefore his ascension to the throne was undeniable and expected. Yet he killed the Emperor regardless. He also framed her for the murder and used her supposed mental-illness as a probable reason for the crime although there has never been a case that involved her mental state before. He further said that she herself commited suicide. Now this seems fishy no matter which side you look from, but people seem to blindly believe it or they just don't care enough to question it. Now the MC is reincarnated as a divine beast, she was in her egg for ten years and her egg was half the size of a normal egg. There are three taboos that concern divine beasts : not to be involved too heavily in human history, not to reveal that you are a divine beast and not to fall in love with a human. Now we all know where this is going, this is a premonition..an omen that the ML is that escort knight and they will have a relationship in the future. All hints point towards it, maybe there will be a second male lead every reader will fall for further down the line. But he's the only potential love interest we have rn. He puts his name (reputation, since he is the hero of the empire and the best knight) to request the Magic tower to send a mage to investigate the truth behind this incident. Also, the MC's current father is also a divine beast but his human form is the reputed Grand Duke and her brother is the Master of the Magic Tower. Seems on brand with the whole 'everyone love me' trope. Seemingly, the ML has gone mad since her death. My feelings towards this manhwa is not too strong. It is OK. The MC doesn't seem smart and seems like the typical female MC in a historical setting as a princess. The male lead is also in the trope of being the best knight but a commoner who rose to the ranks with nothing but his sword. He was distant to the princess while he was her escort knight but he obviously likes her if he is being this affected by her death and considers it an injustice.
Falling for the Enemy
I do love a blushing male lead. It is high time we see an ML being as affected as an FL usually is towards their respective love interest. A blush on an ML is as rare as diamonds. As I was reading through this manhwa, I was wondering where this title came from. It didn't seem to fit the situation that the main characters were in but in hindsight, it fits quite well. The ML's father played a part in the assassination or murder of the MC's parents and her unborn sibling. The ML knew about this fact only recently and avoided the MC for a while but soon was unable to continue so because he loved her too much. But the MC was livid about this, because she heard it from a third party, not from him. Besides the Archduke twisted the story to fit his narrative. She treated him coldly at first then became indifferent to him to straight up telling him to keep his distance. The scene at the MC's parents grave when our ML asked for forgiveness and the MC called him out for his selfishness amd threw away his flowers. That was nice..plot-wise. I do know because this is a romance, that the MC will forgive him for this act and they will get married and yada yada. But I appreciate that the story spent this much time on this problem, with her being angry at him and asking him if he were willing to convict his dad for his crime when he asked for her forgiveness to which he remained silent. That silence was enough for the MC. Personally, I wish they wouldn't end up together, no matter how tragic the situation is, from a character viewpoint, it would be better to end it on a bittersweet note making it memorable for the readers and giving justice to the characters motivations. It is a romance manhwa alright, the whole knight and aura thing happens takes a back burn with the romance and the lovey-dovey atmosphere filling more than half the page. The whole revenge thing seems more like an obstacle that the main couple need to overcome to make their relationship stronger than a serious plotline that needs to be explored. The crown prince being irresponsible is new, what with all the cunning and douchey crown princes polluting this genre. I also hate how the alternate timeline Lia calls Eddie 'Darling'..it is horribly corny and cringey. Also she has both her parents alive and I feel she was so insensitive to our MC though she expresses her condolences. All she does is talk about their married life and the bliss that entails like her husband loving everything she cooks so she doesn't know what he really likes. Also I dislike how she always puts her title as a 'Duchess' at the end of every letter and her husband's family name. She seems so typical. On that note, I love how the ML recognises Lia's efforts and hardwork as well as her position to carry out her family bloodline so he proposes to relinquish his title. We stan an understanding man and a feminist. God knows how rare that is. Also that talk with the prince and the princess on whether he should withhold information from Lia if it could put their relationship in jeopardy. The crown prince's and the princess' response were so interesting, with the crown prince advising him to keep it a secret and the princess disagreeing with him and telling him to tell her everything and that their relationship should not revolve around secrets and would be based on lies.
Youngest Scion of the Mages
What to do? It's typical and the classic 'powering up' manhwa..but I am enjoying reading it immensely. I like the MC's dedication and commitment to everything. He doesn't waste time. His mom being the same as his previous mom..face-wise was an interesting component that made the MC protective towards her and thus becoming a source of motivation. Him meeting the og ml was very interesting. He has two friends now..and I like his shadow. I kinda cringed when he talked to his father..but I get why he did that. His father genuinely loves his mom.. that's good to know. UPDATE (5/3/23): So I've read upto CH41 and the progression is very dungeon-esque like in the way that the MC becomes super OP and only progresses, obtaining and monopolising things meant for other characters since he already knew the events that would occur since he is the author. Everything feels very flimsy but I do like Larsen and his group of friends.
Leveling With The Gods
It follows the game-esque point alloting system where points are gained for their every accomplishments in the dungeon. The MC is OP because he time-travelled to the past as a last resort to gain an upper hand towards their enemies - the outer gods. What are these outer gods? Not much info is known about them but they are essentially gods outside the tower, thereby the term 'outer'. Their powers are strange and mysterious, seemingly unlimited and upto this point of time where the MC time-travelled to, their existence is unknown. There are numbers to the floor, the higher it is, the harder it is to clear it. But past the last floor exists the ceiling where the true difficulties lie. The difficulties faced in the mentioned floors is basically nothing compared to this, a simple wave of hand. The MC is a human, a Korean male who had gods as his allies whom he fought alongside with and whom he treasures. So he doesn't feel the need to make friends this time around with the exception of a certain son of Zeus. He doesn't think the lives of the mass as priority and hates Olympus. They seem like a bunch of asses with their heads way up in the clouds. The egg in itself is a mystery tho I'm sure it will be the greatest key to achieve their goal. We are always hit with the fact that the MC is powerful with him smashing new records everywhere and teaching everyone a lesson. But that doesn't seem to be enough and he is always looking to gain more strength. It can technically be a four star but I'mma give it a three cuz I don't particularly enjoy it tho I can objectively say that it is a good read.
Jujutsu Kaisen
So many things to unpack. I have read the anime and loved it..of course..duh. It's a classic shounen and I loved all the elements. It wears its inspirations on its sleeves..and I love everything shounen..the angst, the characters, the plot and the energy. Gah!! Itadori is the perfect protagonist for this world..Panda is such an icon..Maki a girl crush..Megumi a mood..Nobara so relatable..I love useless Miwa too. Nanami is my man!! Still upset he died, Nobara made me feel a certain type of sadness when she died too but Nanami..I felt hopeless and empty..I couldn't accept it. Hollowness is all I felt..Gojou and Geto..my ship!! That line from Gojou.."My best friend. The only friend I ever had"..That made me feel all types of things. Furthermore, I was of the opinion that they were a trio..with a female..like girl with the heavy eye-bags who is a doctor that deals with corpses...does Gojou not view her as a friend. Man he was such a mess in his youth..honestly he is still that way but man was he wild!! When Getou finally cracked..the reaction Gojou had was so heartbreaking. He toned down after that and their aspirations were changed..he thought that weak people were useless with Getou ideology being that weak people be protected but that's ofcourse reversed as Getou is a villain now. Also, the reason that Gojou could be sealed was because of his love for his only friend..he legit said "My eyes are telling me that this is not real..but my heart.." and that moment of hesitation was all that was needed for him to be sealed.
The Way the Mage Faces Death
The story is easily digestible, very easy to follow and the art is neat, not too busy but does what it needs to do. The dialogue isn't the best but it seems like a normal conversation among people of their age group. I like that there is a reason behind every action. The Dean is very suspicious tho I can understand his actions towards our MC. Him binding her so she doesn't go out of control, with the added info given by the MC that it is a forbidden act and is considered taboo to bind another person. A person can bind themselves or the crystals in their magic staff restricts them but not another person. That is reserved for monsters. The ML is the Duke, right? At least he isn't a douchebag, he is a gentleman in all ways. Like he treats her with the way a lady should be treated despite her constant harrassment. He is also true to his words, doesn't go back on them and is very diligent. I like him. He is starting to take notice of the MC but it's so natural, with her acting the way she does and attracting all sorts of attention towards herself, that is bound to happen. The old Melissa isn't too bad, just a spoiled tsundere brat. Her being a bird is so unexpectedly adorable? I love how it gets addressed what happened to the og soul in the body possessed by the MC. The former Magus, MC's master is such a hard person to pin down. He seems to be a good person but it is clear as day the reason that he helped the MC was not purely because of his good will but the fact that she is a prodigy who already had a mana core when others had to go through the trouble of building one for months and years.
I'm a Fake Saintess but the Gods are Obsessed
I-I don't u-understand. What's the point of this manhwa? The system, the involvement of the gods, the prophecy, the three male leads, the whole reincarnation thing..it's all so jumbled, everything is messed up. What is this manhwa trying to accomplish? The translation sucks, if it were just grammatical issues or errors, I would understand but the things they say, I sometimes wonder if my eyes are seeing things wrong. The artstyle, it feels like the early 2000s anime-ish typical style. Their eyes are wide and sometimes their mouth twitches with smirks and their expressions darken, that's it. It feels so off-putting. The gods thing is mediocre at best, the whole situation isn't even entertaining, I get that they are bored and want some spice into their life but our girlie is stale, white bread..no flavour. The male leads interest in her is so forced and done just for the plot. The pope is the most interesting rn, and he isn't even that interesting..
Cinderella Wasn't Me
Man I remember this..it was wacky as hell. She had a lover who was a total momma boy. I pity her for putting up with that co-dependent symbiotic relationship. She later learns that the Duke is her dad and the whole interaction is just weird and so terrible that it's good. Her mother denying that he is her father with her believing her mom's words then her father or was it his subordinate (?) took out a mirror and says as a matter-of-fact that she is the splitting image of her dad. She looks surprised as she observes herself in the mirror, touching her face and mumbling 'I look like him'...Like bitch, Yes!! The same blue hair, facial structure and whatnot. I think the writer was completely serious and did not intend for this whole interaction to be so oddly comical but it almost feels like she is trolling the whole 'finding out that you are the Duke's/Emperor's child trope'. The other stuff that happens is just a blur to me. Oh! I remember that the ML faked his handicap and is laying low, possessing a mysterious power that is seemingly OP yet doesn't work on MC.. if I am not mistaken. Also one last thing..I hate her dad and mom. Like her mom is so fucking irresponsible and her forgiving the Duke that easily is just ridiculous. She supposedly holds a grudge against him for cheating or something enough to hide from him that he has a child with her than he comes running after 10+ years with a reason that is straight up cliche and just forgives him *snaps* like that?!! They are totally all over eo at this point and not paying any attention to the MC. The mom is so..ugh..whatever but the dad being so doting to his wife yet strict with his daughter struck my nerve. Like you are pompous enough that you try to change her life to your will but take on the role of a 'strict dad'? That don't sit right with me buddy
