The Precious Sister of The Villainous Grand Duke
Nice read not the best...a bit repetitive..but okay. Maybe this deserve more description. Okayyy... here goes. The MC is isekai'd as per usual as the adopted daughter of the Lagrange, the villains of the novel which she is reincarnated onto. This is a secret but the fact that she does not have the shadow ability that is the identity of the Lagrange can be questioned. The ML is her elder brother, not the real bio one that is the ML of the novel but the villain of the story who is also whipped for the female lead. Awfully convenient.. ain't it? It is common for siblings to kill eachother for the heir position so the MC was unsafe even as a baby from the get go. But the villain saved her..although not for some grand reason like the kindness of his heart. It was imperative for the selection of the heir for the final stage to kill the one they treasure the most. So he planned on killing her when that day comes. Ofcourse that didn't happen. If it did..what a plot twist it would be. The villain grew attached to her and she to him. Also Anissa's bio family is trash except for her big bro who cares for her somewhat. What else? Oh! The og fl is one deranged bitch, a delulu I tell you...she considers herself to be the main character, the saviour if you will (although it is correct initially). She acts very self-righteous and says that Dietrich and her are destined but when push comes to shove, she considers him to be dirty and refused to help when Anissa asked for her help. Also the demon that Dietrich is bonded with...a grower for me. He cares for him. But the demon that made the curse on Dietrich obsolete was the demon that fell for og fl's mother and inturn was cursed so he bitter as hell now. He made it so that Dietrich would not die an early death in exchange for Anissa offering everything she had to make to ensure that he was alive. But he made it so that everyone forgot about Anissa and that she ever existed except for Dietrich. So Dietrich inturn offers him his soul but he responds with 'Do you think that's enough?' so...Oh Anissa forgot everything as well, she thinks she is reincarnated in the novel (which she is) but no recollection of her time as Anissa. She is now a maid with the same description as Anissa except for her blue eyes. Also that lecherous noble is not it. What more? Oh the Lagrange are a respected family now and the Shadows are no more..which the MC is confused about since it was originally a war story and she found it strange that Anissa did not exist. In the last chapter that I read, Ch94 she met with Dietrich in a field of garden and she tripped (are we surprised?) so he helps her. She first mistook him for a kidnapper since her fellow maid warned her of it so as she tried to run suddenly she tripped. Dietrich helps her, and she asks why he is here not knowing his identity..gurlll and he says that he is looking for his lover.
Dr. Player
I enjoyed this. It was engaging although it feels flimsy at times with the MC falling into the 'I only care about money' mindset. All those faces he makes pisses me off too. The character development is non-existent as of now but hope is there for improvement. His first pupil is a puppy..so adorable. He misunderstands him to be some type of saint that only serves the people without caring for himself. Though the MC isn't a complete douchebag, I wish the author would just make him out to be a good guy instead of doing in a round about way of him acting this way for his selfish reasons yet a bit of consciousness prickle him when he makes an error in judgment. Also despite being an illegitimate prince, there seems to be some type of secret to his birthname 'Penin'; his mother's surname. That shady character mentioned something about his emerald eyes that some family possess so...it has to be him. This is a cliche I can get behind. I hate that the 'Iron steel' skill deprives him of development when he's anxious or loses his composure. He has been in situations like that so often now, you would wonder how he manages to be so all over the place till now.
A Saintess Who Was Adopted By The Grand Duke
I actually really like this. This was unexpected. This reminds me of 'A way to protect the loveable you', such an awesome manhwa btw. I love how her family is so caring towards her, the Dad is such a wonderful father not only to her but to the twin boys as well. The dynamic between Esther and the twins are different but so right. Like the elder one is more serious so he found it harder to accept her and needed to test her but he wasn't being an ass about it. The other twin is more sociable so they got close pretty soon and it's cuz of him that she got adopted so hurray!! I love that he gave her a piggyback ride and he was the first person that she opened up to. That is so special and I like that the other twin found out about the fact that Esther is the saintess based on the signs and how that ties back to how he mentioned that he wanted that very book that contained that info to his dad. This is a very well-written book. Also it's blatantly obvious that she is their sister, no doubt about it. She also got the name she was supposed to receive from her mother in this life. I like that she got this life by her own effort and not some cliche shit. The male lead is very witty for sure. I don't mind his personality unlike some comments tho I do get where they are coming from since she is still healing and all. And the way he asked her to stay by her side didn't come from a bad place but it wasn't necessarily out of the goodness of his heart either. But I prefer that over him being whipped for her out the gate. I love how he dismisses Ravien as well.
Lord Baby Runs A Romance Fantasy With Cash
Cute cover page Update (4/9/23) : This was very very sweet. Maybe a bit too sweet? Whatever the case is, I like it. The father is very very doting and her brothers are very cute. The second likes her from the get go while the third can't accept her easily because she doesn't have magic energy. He likes her as well and seems touched by her persistence to get closer to him, add the fact that she didn't tattle to their father about him threatening her and also her description of magic energy as something cozy resembling the night. The eldest son is yet to be seen. I wonder how her mother died, so she didn't die giving birth to her? That's new. Also the God(?) who gave her a chance to reincarnate seems to know her. Is she someone special? I do think her cousin being so young shouldn't be that despicable but whatever.
Please Treat Your Friends Preciously
It's okay-ish. The MC is just the typical dumb blonde, respectfully. Her reasoning is just so bizzare, she acts like a child (is she one? She said she had memories of reading a novel on the world she's in). Anyway her and the ml, I don't feel the chemistry.. It could be because they haven't hit the double digits yet but genuinely this is so basic. She needs him to survive, so he is her lifeline but she doesn't let him in on it so he thinks he's special and all that shit. She also says that he shouldn't hold someone's hand, hug etc unless it's her. This obviously doesn't come from a bad place but it's so hard for a reader my age to read about. He has a special power so that's the reason if you were wondering. Also the conflict is so fucking childish to me, like the cousin taunting the ml. I guess that's the highest form of insult that a child can conjure up. This world is based on a bl novel where her big bro is the MC and the ML is one of his suitors so how we feel about that? It's giving 'I can change him, he might not like girls but that's cuz he hasn't met me. He's just confused'. His love was unrequited though they did share a passionate kiss near the end (the MC's words, not mine). There are currently 20 chapters but I stopped at 11 cuz I can't stand it no more.
The Beast Within
This was on the list for obsessive mls on an Insta edit that my sis sent me. I don't know what to make of this, this gives me major Wattpad vibes, with the naive, innocent and cute blondie with a man who says 'babygirl' unironically. I read upto Ch12 and I don't get why he is a beast other than the fact that he's horny during some cycle, is under a curse. Like I feel they set it up to be so grand that it doesn't measure up. The MC doesn't have any personality, all she cares is that he's good to her and as long as he isn't mean, she's alright with everything. Her brother cares more for her than I thought, he does call her useless multiple times but that's cuz she is so can't blame him. He looks down on peasants, orders everyone around and is very arrogant for no reason at all. This boy can't read the room at all and talks down to his sister all the time. The plot is there.. Like I don't know how else to say it. The characters are just there, doing their thing getting horny, fucking like rabbits and the servants stay terrified of their Master. I was surprised that they can talk back to him to some extent tho, that old maid and nanny especially. The censored private parts made me laugh and the dirty talk I chuckled at. It kind of gets on my nerves that Ray is this dumb but whatever. There will be no plot if we had a smart and capable MC so there's that.
Betrayal of Dignity
I am in love with this, when I tell you this is my new obsession!! Ah! I love the characters so much from Chloe to Damien to servant boy and her dad. This is my first time reading a manhwa centered around a disabled MC but I am enjoying every moment of it. To those people calling the MC weak, are u fucking dumb!!? This girl is the strongest female MC I have encountered in a minute! She has quick wits, graceful, dignified, kind and stubborn yet knows when to bend her knees. She is so refreshing, I wish she didn't spoil her little sister so much that she gets pregnant leaving her sister and father in complete ruin but she is the ideal elder sister so heyy no blaming. I love how she responds to every situation and matches the ML by butting heads with him every time they meet. The sister.. I don't want to waste my breath talking about her. The servant boy is such a nice person, he knew where he stood and did not cross the line. He even lied in court for her and what amazed me was that he went to the Duke to clear things up without even thinking about himself even once. The Duke is such an interesting character, he has so many sides to him. I don't hate him, in fact I like him. He does like the MC but she isn't the only thing on his mind. He is a very ambitious man aiming for the throne tho I don't blame him..the crown prince will only bring ruin if he ascends the throne. I got a bad vibe from him when I saw his interaction with Chloe, like the way he touched her shoulders wasn't very gentlemanly and the way his eyes sparkled when Chloe was being stubborn and asking him to take back his apologies made me feel a bit iffy. The Duke's mom was a nice character that subverted my expectations of someone of her stature. I expected her to be uptight, smart, and rule with an iron fist but this woman stupid as hell. Her getting angry at Chloe for pointing out that her two faithful servants had been stealing from them and not accepting it. Her being so cheerful and totally defenseless was quite a shock. The reveal was phenomenal! He set her up so she feels indebted to him and to manipulate her feelings for him. And it was executed so splendidly! I mean she was just unlucky but for him to ask his subordinate when he felt loyalty towards him and his answer was when he saved him so he played the role and now she is starting to like him. He has always been interested in her and I feel there is something behind him choosing her other than his fascination towards her but I like him being constantly impressed by how Chloe navigates through the traps or tests he sets for her and her coming on top every single time.
Baby Tyrant
This is so cliche. It's the typical chosen one with a very loving and protective family type of isekai. The translation ruins the experience for me, and the story isn't even that good to boot. I wish it has a bit more, it's so tropey and in the same vein with every other manhwa. I suspect that 'Who made me a Princess?' started this craze because of its immense popularity. I need to start some other series so I can't waste my time on this. I have finished like 11 chapters so far but I didn't finish the 11th chapter cuz my Wi-Fi didn't support it. I wish the MC would give it a try. I know we got exposition on why she is skeptical about this whole thing but it feels very inorganic in a way. 'The Ordinary Lady' I think..? did a much better job at that. Also we all know who the ML will be, it's that black haired demon child right? I like Oscar.. He's so adorable. I was surprised that they were half-siblings since that wasn't very common. And also the Emperor got remarried so the MC's mom is the one whom he truly loves and the Duchess is one whom he married out of necessity and the mom of Oscar. The Duchess is very strict and orders her bro to be stricter with Oscar as well, he followed what he said. Speaking of that.. I was surprised by the switch up on how he treated the princess and his nephew. I like how protective Mabel got over her big bro, maybe she sees him as a child so that's why. Also another gripe I have with this manhwa is that I can't take it seriously.. It just be saying stuff and there doesn't seem to be any real consequences like I get the whole priest thing cuz of the you know.. Problems it would cause to be at odds with the Holy Land but it just makes the Emperor look like a fraud. Also the priests being corrupt and actually being the 'villain' per se is so tired. Just quit it if you can't commit to it. 'The stepmother's marchen' and 'How to get my husband on my side' does a phenomenal job at this if you wanna see a good execution of that sub-plot. 'Saving my Sweetheart' is also worth a mention.
I Don't Want to Work!
Eh it's so so, the conflicts are terribly minor and this is a poor execution of an OP protagonist. For someone who has lived for a thousand plus a hundred years, her demeanor doesn't reflect that. By that I don't mean she has to be stoic or a wise all looming figure, there should be glimpses or hints of it peeking through every now and then. But it comes across like she has this burst of knowledge or life experience only when the plot calls for it, like hey you knew that person, you lived through that era, you were a notable figure in this field etc etc. The deal with the gods being shady does intrigue me, I'm not gonna lie.. That trope always gets me going. Her disciple is also very typical of the master-disciple dynamic in this genre. My sister enjoys this and frankly I'm starting to question her taste in everything. Currently at Ch44
