Aniki no Ichiban Oishii Tokoro
Welp.. This was one of the things I read when I was deep in the incest trap. I still am to some extent but I don't seek it out now (only in fiction btw since I like taboo and controversial issues). I was pleasantly surprised by the exploration of the lil bro's inferiority complex and his blind devotion to his big brother. I'm glad they addressed that in this manga, it sticks out from other mangas in the same vein as this because unlike the others, this actually tells us the ins and outs of why he feels this way. In addition to that, it also sheds light on how this relationship affects their life outside their little twincest bubble. The big brother is very interesting in hindsight.. He never thought of his lil bro like that but he didn't seem to mind it when he found his brother touching him.. Since he felt good. This sentiment is also shared by the seme..he thinks to himself 'this is how nii-san has always been, he just goes with things that give him pleasure or satisfaction'. He doesn't think or function like the normal person. The idolization part also fascinates me. I love the drama aspect of it too and like the thought of other people regarding their dynamic.. Even his(the seme) friend comments if it's not tiring wiping his ass for him. I also love how this extends over to their adulthood when they move out or go job hunting and not just students. It makes the story more solid that way. That's all.
1 to 10
Surprisingly I enjoyed this. I thought I would skip some chapters but I read it all the way through, ngl I paused sometimes since the second hand embarrassment was too much for me to handle. The uke reminds me of Heesu from 'Heesu in Class 2', tho this MC is way sassier and short tempered. The cuteness is all the same though. I was worried at first that there was going to be trouble between his friend and him since the seme was his crush (as seen in Ch1, that too an intense crush) but that didn't happen, he immediately knew what was going on and confronted the MC. The dick size also played a part in it, if it is a mandingo it's acceptable to be turned off from it. Edit: Turns out it's a translation error. The seme's friend is the one his friend has a major crush on. I thought they just made a mistake with reuploading the first chapter but it turns out that was the correct translation (thanks kind stranger from the comments in pointing that out). Also I like that there is an explanation from this manhwa about the huge dick, all semes supposedly has a huge dick.. No one with a micro dick? In Korea.. Questionable (O_O). With the way big dicks are imp for the MC, it makes sense. He broke up with his ex cuz his dick was small so.. The seme seems to like the uke for a while with how pro-active he's been in chasing after him and how butt hurt he was being when he saw him with another man. The bathroom scene made me side eye him a bit but this is YAOI so I don't expect much. What else? The uke is being so cute about sex, like waiting 100 days to have it and how he's clinging to that made him stand out in my eyes. He isn't a prude yet he isn't a slut either so that's refreshing.. The middle ground baby. His first time was horrible, I hate the whole 'You don't love me? That's why you don't wanna have sex with me' bullshit . Also the fact that he got more satisfaction from a dildo than your dick speaks volumes (that line from Hailee Steinfeld 'My hands cam pleasure me more than you' came to mind) . The way he just withstood the pain he felt made me feel bad.. Poor baby, you don't have to force yourself. This seem to have a crossover from another work of this author so I might check that out as well.
Please, Candy!
This is so fucking weird and creepy. I do like that it subverts your expectations of who the seme and uke are but this just feels like NTR. The thing about NTR is if you are going to do it, you have to commit and do it all the way but this was half-assed and it feels greasy and disgusting. I thought that the seme was the friend from '1 to 10' but I don't think so. The name is different. Also the pacing is weird, it feels like we skipped 10 chapters or more so worth of story. Like the uke forgives him for drugging and raping him? And now he wears bras and lingerie willingly when all his life, he has dressed a certain way (more traditionally manly attire), his personality also made a complete 180 shift. The candy analogy just isn't it.. Quit it. The only crossover we got from '1 to 10' was the guy with the hat who supplied seme with the aphrodisiac (I think, I'm pretty sure) and the one who set the uke from '1 to 10' on a blind date. In hindsight that's a blessing.
Dear Teddy Bear
Uh.. This was something. The translation is terrible, so the seme killed that Namhyun guy so he could have the uke who adopted him together with Namhyun. He pushed him off a cliff and stole his ring, that was six years ago. It is clear that the seme is a psycho so I made my peace with it. So much info dumped into the first chapter, there has to be a twist right? With that one guy in the middle. The uke sees Namhyun in the seme (most likely because the seme is doing it on purpose) and relies on him for everything. He gets anxious when he isn't around, calls him relentlessly and seems to only interact with him. This was done by the seme, I hope we can explore how he went about in doing it. Obviously the uke was vulnerable but how did he isolate him? I want all the deets.
My Deepest Secret
I read this on Webtoon a while ago.. Like maybe 2 years~? And I remember being flabbergasted and if you think I like being spoiled now, you should see me then cuz I was searching for spoilers. So of course I knew that the girl was the real psycho and she had DID. I'm not sure if it represents the disorder properly or if it was done for the aesthetic without any proper research, so I won't mention anything about it. I do see people saying that the movie with James McAvoy was misleading and damaging for the people in that community so I won't be surprised if this is the same shit. Now I like the flashback on the MC, her dad was vile and her mom irresponsible for leaving her with that trash of a human being. I don't condone cheating but his disgusting behaviour couldn't have come up from nowhere right? Maybe it showed up in bits and pieces to her mom, or maybe she's trash as well. The "psycho bf" was so sweet and kind and I hate that we saw him for something other than his cinnamon self. Also how the MC based her personality from his gf? Whew! She broke them up.. The side eye the co-worker barista gave to her in hindsight is comical, the foreshadowing is nice but it could use a lot more work imo. So the ML is a green flag through and through, he also has personality. That's my gripe with green flag men in media, they lack the sauce that red flag men possess, but not him honey. He got all the rizz, personality, charm.. You name it. Also how he still loves her even after figuring out that she's the culprit. I think his first clue was when she fought that guy in the streets, the warning bells were ringing in his head! Also his bestie being a woman and them actually being friends? We love debunking myths that say men and women can't be friends. I love it here. He is such a kid around her and she is fosho the mom of the group.. The group now consists of him, her and MC. The MC and her getting along and being friends as well was the cherry on top
Devil Sugar Blood
I've read upto Chapter 3 as of now, and it's okayy I guess. It's very typical manhua bl, there are vampires, dragons etc. The uke and seme are so typically traditionally top and bottom. The uke is feisty for no reason, we can tell he likes him as well but he bears a grudge against the seme for something he did to him. If he didn't do that , then he would be like his big bro (it's just like hyung in Korean). I don't know if they had sex cuz his pants weren't off but there were creaking sounds so I'm confused. Also I won't want to get head from someone with fangs. The smut is so boring (O_O)
Confined Together with the Horror Game’s Male Lead
It's so so. The translation is terrible, the plot is not plotting, inconsistencies, boring characters and sub par art style. I like the setting but the execution is very lacking. The synopsis did a nice job in reeling me in though, I'll give it that. I read upto Ch10.
Steel Under Silk
I can't believe I didn't leave a review for this because I absolutely adored this when I read it. I'm thinking of starting it again after everything that's going on right now (CUET exam). I was on a BL craze back then, reading everything my grubbly hands could take a hold on. And the cover intrigued me because hello? It's so visually appealing. I always check the featured photos first so I could get a feel for the type of story I was getting myself into and I loved it. The top was everything I looked for in this type of BL manhwa so I was thoroughly satisfied but the bottom??!! The bottom was the icing on the cake, cherry on top.. He reminded me so much of Jeonghan from SVT and I was hooked from the get go. I love me a beautiful bottom. The plot itself though it holds its own, it's not the reason I carried on reading it till Ch30.. It was the characters, the dynamic and so forth. I could tell from the get go that the bottom's revenge was futile, that his motivations were misguided, that he was childish but that was one of his charming points. His temper was also another aspect that was adorable and charming even. By this point I was expecting the top to be head over heels in love with him, not knowing which way was left or right but he kept his heads on his shoulders and ngl that deterred me a little bit. It made me realize that this was going to be a slow burn manhwa and right then and there I needed a quick fix so I dropped it to pick it up at a better time. I know people clown on the Shakespearean language that is being used but honestly I find that it elevates the reading experience. The dirty talk is quite an amusing task to read through but nevertheless I enjoyed it.
I Don't Want to Work!
Eh it's so so, the conflicts are terribly minor and this is a poor execution of an OP protagonist. For someone who has lived for a thousand plus a hundred years, her demeanor doesn't reflect that. By that I don't mean she has to be stoic or a wise all looming figure, there should be glimpses or hints of it peeking through every now and then. But it comes across like she has this burst of knowledge or life experience only when the plot calls for it, like hey you knew that person, you lived through that era, you were a notable figure in this field etc etc. The deal with the gods being shady does intrigue me, I'm not gonna lie.. That trope always gets me going. Her disciple is also very typical of the master-disciple dynamic in this genre. My sister enjoys this and frankly I'm starting to question her taste in everything. Currently at Ch44
