Want some wholesome read as well
Doctor Resignation
The art is relatively simple with some flowers adorning the background. The characters are not unique or a specific sketch, things that make it stand out. It's a typical shoujo with the girl raising (?) the boy then boy falls in love, she is dense and he gets more assertive. Him being gaslighted by his older cousin was one of the things that stood out to me since I could see it happening in real life with real people in real situations. And btw they could not make it more obvious that our MC is the biological daughter of the doctor..there is a thing called subtlety which I love that this genre seems to heavily lack. I love reading between the lines and not being spoon-fed about certain things happening in the story especially when it is so transparent. The Duchess is the 'cool mom' I guess..with the way things are going, I reckon the MC and ML fall in love facing the obstacles of the evil cousin or maybe a second male lead? It is very wholesome. The translation is lacking and I feel some scenes get cut out, it is also a walking cliche.. Currently on ch14
Dr. Player
I enjoyed this. It was engaging although it feels flimsy at times with the MC falling into the 'I only care about money' mindset. All those faces he makes pisses me off too. The character development is non-existent as of now but hope is there for improvement. His first pupil is a puppy..so adorable. He misunderstands him to be some type of saint that only serves the people without caring for himself. Though the MC isn't a complete douchebag, I wish the author would just make him out to be a good guy instead of doing in a round about way of him acting this way for his selfish reasons yet a bit of consciousness prickle him when he makes an error in judgment. Also despite being an illegitimate prince, there seems to be some type of secret to his birthname 'Penin'; his mother's surname. That shady character mentioned something about his emerald eyes that some family possess so...it has to be him. This is a cliche I can get behind. I hate that the 'Iron steel' skill deprives him of development when he's anxious or loses his composure. He has been in situations like that so often now, you would wonder how he manages to be so all over the place till now.
Doctor’s Rebirth
This is surprisingly up my alley. Tbh though I enjoy this type of 'cultivation' esque manhwas/manhuas..it tends to be overwhelming with the amount of information being dumped. Also, if you've read one, you have read all. It is basically the same shit in different format. I do like the master-disciple connection going on, and the sworn brothers bit. The MC faces success after sucess though tribulations come in insignificant forms. Him healing the master happened surprisingly sooner than I expected. I also like that he isn't a douchebag and has a moral compass unlike other MCs. He does struggle between being a doctor and a martial master but he considers himself a doctor first and foremost. He is also incredibly mature and has an objective and logical outlook on life. I didn't see him becoming that attached to his Master but with the context that he was an orphan and all, it does make sense. He wonders if this is what it feels like to have a parent as his master pats his head. Up until now there are no love interest overtly. His friend could be one or that younger sibling of the something clan (sorry I can't keep tabs on everything) . What more? I like the dog
Kusuriya no Hitorigoto
Wait, what??!!! This isn't on my list? I lost my shit while reading this, there I was rambling and complaining that there were no good mangas/manhwas to read anymore and this treasure right here was waiting to be picked up. It's insane how each chapter managed to one up the other, I enjoyed the earlier chapters but the later parts were the best. One thing I dreaded going into this after I read the synopsis was 'genius female MC upstaged by the ML' or 'FL falling into the dumb pushover Cinderella role' as time went on. Luckily that didn't happen, instead the MC is the realist, is cold with it, grounded and her smarts is just out of this world. The ML whom I thought would be the smiley dude who pulled strings behind the scene and always has motives behind his every move is a softie. I like that the MC is so aware of the position she is in with being in the red light district (not technically) and does what she can with the things she has, like putting freckles on her face so she is deemed undesirable and can go under the radar. She admits that she isn't a "genius" like her bio dad who just knows stuff, she has to take everything into consideration and work things from there but her bio dad acts on instincts and can sus a person or situation out. The love story between her bio mom and bio dad was amazing, I thought he was a dickhead when he was first introduced but there is so much depth to him. Her bio mom waiting for him in her weakened state remembering and trusting him despite everything and the state she is currently in. Also the side characters are given so much flesh and their stories are so inspiring and sometimes hard to see. I like that there is a secret to the ML that the MC clearly sees yet she refuses to since she doesn't want to get in trouble (that's foreshadowing if I've ever seen one). My fav scene has to be the ML just slumped being lonely in a banquet where everyone is enjoying themselves yet he is thinking about our MC. He couldn't believe his eyes and had to do a double-take since she was dressed up and it was the first time he saw her without the freckles. The conversation that followed elevates it as well, we get an insight on her outlook about the red light district. She hasn't "served" anyone yet but isn't afraid of it and admits that the person in charge is probably biding her time to sell her off. She isn't sad, it's not the end of the world for her, just something that is inevitable. I think that shocks the ML a bit. He is so soft for her. Ahh! I ship them. Even though the road won't be easy, as long as they have eo.. They can survive anything.
Love Me Doctor!
No!! Because I was totally engrossed reading this. The sexual tension was through the roof.. Hyuck is such a baby girl. First chapter and it's already been established that the gf is a bit of a bitch, which is cheap but I like it cuz now I don't feel bad about the potential romance between him and the doctor. I liked his blunt friend, how he is loved by his pals and sunbaes, overall he is a likeable character. The doctor on the other hand is so manipulative and a fuckboy, he gives off a gentle and mature aura as well so we now how he got bitches. I stopped reading because it just felt so wrong, like we know that the doctor is interested in him so he's playing him like a violin. Hyuck confides in him and he instead of helping him reconcile with his gf, he advises him to distance himself and shit. It doesn't make him look good cuz why is a damn adult with a job all up in children's business? Also that scene when they were playing pool and the doctor got his bitch with him got on my nerves cuz my innocent boo boo got ignored. That made me drop this series, I'm not gonna lie. This man with all his experience is playing my innocent puppy. Every scene with the two of them, we clearly see who wears the pants and it don't feel good. Like the power dynamic is so fucked up so it feels iffy at times.
