Melody of the Deadwood
Maybe one day That day is now..I love it!! It's so low-key and mild compared to some high tension manhwa but that makes it all the more digestible. The story is not hard to follow and has a hint of mystery sprinkled in it. Our MC who has lost the will to live because of her terrible family has now regained hope to live with her new family who she is bound to by a contract. The 5 of them are the peak of their respective fields from master of the 9 magic tower, head of an assassin guild, a knight of the highest level, a mage of some sort, and a powerful merchant. They are all super eccentric and so chaotic and fun. My fav at the moment are Pasi and that chibi mage..she looks like a child with her chubby cheeks and I love how Pasi is so devoted to Al and is a chef. My ideal man..he is more of the pretty type but what does that matter? There is the deal of the ring being passed on from generations to Al's family..and when she broke that ring..she met her new family. So there is that and our MC is talented in languages, she knows the forbidden language as well as divine languages..that is very rare and a skill that is in dire need for the investigation that they are currently undertaking. So I feel that her family purposely hid her talents from her and made her feel worthless only to compliment her step-sister in the same breath who seems completely average with a haughty attitude. There is also the deal with her two childhood friends that her step-sis coveted from her..how the male friend suddenly got engaged with her sister and the female friend suspected her of doing some immoral thing. The two friends are siblings btw. They also seem to be hung up on Al and seemed shaken and happy seeing her again and quickly saw through her "disguise". Also her living as a man is totally believable..I would just regard her as a pretty and polished man if I didn't know any better. Although when she "disguised" herself as a female, she acted rather feminine. She might also be 'The Alchemist of Gold'. All clues point towards that. I mean she is the MC so it is of no surprise that she would take centre stage in the plot but anyway..the two brothers who are destined to serve the 'Alchemist of Gold' because of their mixed blood (their mom is a fairy) are drawn to her. Also the current suspected 'Alchemist of Gold' seems to be just a suspect in the end..cuz the band that they are in that now includes the MC too, her role in that is a guitarist and the MC is a singer. Why is this important? Well, it is told that the singing of that destined person was an instrument essentially that drew people to her and commanded attention..and that very thing happened when Al sang.
The Princess's Double Life
Love me some double life It wasn't as cliche as I expected it to be..it knocked my expectations out of the park. Love a simple-minded ml from time to time..what with all the cunning and possessive ml's everywhere who always seem to be one step ahead of the MC. It isn't a surprise that the ML fell for her quickly with his simple and brash way of thinking but our MC has caught feelings too~ That's honestly fine..we can expect a healthy dynamic atleast. The art is so pretty..a bit sparkly but not too overt. I was wondering why the cover has the MC with pink hair but the blonde hair was a disguise, huh? She said that she hadn't shown her real face since she was six, so dedication right there..*claps*
Isn’t Being A Wicked Woman Much Better?
The art style is impeccable. The MC is very cut-throat in the way she approaches things, no subtlety detected whatsoever. The ML has to be the Viscount, Mr. Handsome for all types, but it's nice that because he likes cats that he will come to like MC. He also said that MC resembles a cat more than a dog so there's that. The Duke has so much affection for his wife but not for his children. He has four children in total, the twins, our MC and the little cutie Eric. I reckon that they will have a good relationship. I like that we are getting substance from the og MC who is the typical sweet and naive saintess, who is selfless to an extreme level. She seems tired of her bf's advances and I predict the other male lead's too. Also who is that person that eggs her on endlessly talking about how her bf lacks tact and subtlety in giving her a gaudy jewellery rather than the pink diamond that the MC currently possess.
My Mom Entered a Contract Marriage
The art is incredibly flashy, it reminds me of that manhwa that has something 'siren' in the title. Tho I like the premise of it revolving around the MC who is a child, having a very pretty mother who regressed after her death. The child is smart for her age and loves her mom wholeheartedly but at the end of the day, she is still a child. There is the Emperor's side and the noble's side; with her mother taking the side of the latter during her previous life leading to her death. So that is how we got in this predicament (can we say that?), Her proposing a marriage contract with the Emperor for 8 years until the crown prince is of age to inherit the throne. Apparently this world is set based on animal thingy with the Emperor being a dragon with his secretary a fox, the captain of the guard a wolf and the MC's maid a falcon or a type of bird. The gist is the first Emperor was a dragon and he turned the other animals that we mentioned before into humans, but they have to be loyal and follow their commands otherwise they will revert to their original form. I think there is a bit of something hidden towards the Emperor's and his aides reactions to the MC saying off-handedly that he wasn't human. Their reactions were a bit too serious for the fun conversation prior to that comment. Also the main reason why the Emperor agreed to such a rash contract proposed by the Empress was because of her eyes, he mentioned that the nobles were cowards spewing nonsense while not able to look him in the eyes. He notes that the MC also has that same gaze; maybe unflinching? I do like that nod to the audience over how the MC met with the Emperor and saying "My mother cannot get up in the morning, I don't think she sleeps during the night. She is tired so stop it! Stop bullying my mother!". The aides stifling their laughter by coughing and her following suit by saying "ahem, ahem?" making them laugh harder was gold. The Emperor saying "I'm sure she likes it" was not tact at all, bro. It speaks volumes on how he doesn't know how to interact with normal people nevermind a child. The crown prince is the typical 'crown prince character'. The ML by the comments seem to be the Duke's son, who by the Empress's memory will die three years later. What else to add? Overall I like it but sometimes the translation makes no sense, with spelling mistakes to mistakes in gender or sometimes everything don't line up. I don't know if I will go back to this willingly but it's nice.
4 Week Lovers
This is it, the perfect mix of shounen-ai and yaoi. The ml is not overbearing to the point that it feels suffocating but enough to fulfill that craving and the MC although a pushover and a naive person has some degree of backbone and a stubborn personality to him. The sex scenes are so intimate and personal that it feels like we are intruding on their space rather than the author flaunting that they can write a smexy scene that is droolworthy. Ahh their dynamic is seriously adorable and it is not unrequited. The ML is as much in love as the MC is though he refuses to date him for personal reasons alluding to the fact that he is an orphan and the very relatable reason that he can't even look after himself so how is he supposed to care for another person? UPDATE (6/3/23): I am caught upto ch50 and the translations are not the best. I was under the impression that I hated clingy and crybaby uke but this uke Dojun is just so soft and squishy that I can only adore him. Jaehee is lucky, also his type is a puppy...the lengths he went through to get close to him was funny. He found his ideal type, what other girls he dated found to be burdensome like his possessiveness, persistence, walking home everyday and excessive skinship..he welcomed all of it. Also Dojun doesn't have a single muscle in his body..his tummy is so soft and I like how when Jaehee touches it, it has some fat to it
Eternal Covenant
This is absolutely fascinating! The MC being so different from his past self makes the story seem more real and relatable in a sense. So the Cardinal turned out to be the King's twin younger brother...I knew that there was a connection between the two but this was unexpected. I even had the thought that they looked alike but I left that to be the author's style since some authors have a distinct style that appears across their various work *ahem* Love Shuttle..The King's love for Ian is so noble and pure that I feel cleansed just by witnessing it and the Cardinal's is more twisted, possessive and dark. He imprinted himself on the young Ian and brainwashed him. So while Ian feels so much love towards Jack, he still feels guilty and indebted to his 'saviour'. The little kid was so cute but ended up being used as a pawn to lure out Ian. Ian being so anxious and on edge about Brian and him feeling jealous is valid since the tales about their bond and love is rampant in the kingdom. At first I brushed it off but him feeling that way is normal considering where he came from and how he lived until now. If he fails in regaining his memory, he won't become the 'Brian' that Jack cares so much for and he feels that his love is directed towards 'Brian' and not 'Ian'. Also their personalities are polar opposites, Brian seems to be a nice childhood and grew up being loved while the same cannot be said for Ian. Um..Sienna I know that you mean well but u are proving yourself to be a nuisance. The bodyguard though I like, since he is so collected and does his duty well. Brian essentially made up the King's personality. He taught him things from the scratch. How to handle people, how to feel and even his demeanor towards people is based on Brian himself.
Kill the Lights
Aahhhh this is the treasure that I have been searching for!! The MC (Mason) is so cool and charming that I ended up falling for him like all the characters on the show (manhwa). Him slowly getting used to Haley's life and rolling with the punches, whether that be with his kinks or his troublesome old partners or even his bloodsucking leeches of a family made me so attached to him as a character. I also adore Mason because he hasn't let go of his past self while also changing himself to the environment he is in now, like I get why other characters that are reincarnated has to let go of their past identity but that feels almost unnecessary since they can still be their old self while embracing their new life. Sorry..that was a rant. In addition to that, I love how he still has his habits from his mercenary days...for example him memorizing a phone number as soon as he heard that it was 'confidential' and lamely saying that he tried to memorise but forgot it while awkwardly laughing..the cherry on top was Noah chuckling in the background since he is already aware of his identity. Another incident or an observation was that he sticks to a strict regime that he created (we know this when Noah's secretary gave him a report on Mason), that he feels comfortable with that kind of strict conduct if you will, and that adds so much to the character work of Mason. His brother dying was what made him go to Afghanistan to fight in the battlefield but I think he is slowly improving or learning to overcome that trauma since he was murdered, not dying of a natural cause. That would have made it more painful. His surprise when he saw Haley's collection of dildos and him cleaning all the shady cult stuff that Haley partook in was a sight for sore eyes. And, I love how he is falling in love with the art of acting and is making strides in the acting industry with a genius director for his redebut. Him taking acting lessons and him noticing that he becomes a different person in front of the camera were interesting. He is such a fun MC. Now the ML, Noah. He is America's sweetheart with his family lineage being stacked with accomplished people in various fields from an actress mother, a business mogul for a father, lawyers, politicians, millionaires etc. You couldn't wish for a better place to grow up in but that changed when he was kidnapped by a jealous small actor( he called his mother "the picture-perfect person") who had a deep insecurity towards his mother. Now, him following a stranger was not normal since he admitted that he wasn't that naive but he had been waiting for his mom for such a long time that he just wanted to go home so he ended up following a stranger. He was threatened and was put in a suitcase thereby his claustrophobia. He still suffers from PTSD and considers his saviour to be the only one that loves him and is worth living for. He is a very capable man, with him having a very competent personnel of workers who are very qualified in their profession and he monitors Mason regularly. But perhaps it is from all those years of stalking Mason that he instinctively feels that Haley resembled Mason though not sharing any similar physical characters. It was the way he gazed at him, the way he behaved and above all the connection he had with Mason (Noah saw him in Mason's house, saw him picking up Mason's belongings etc). Obsessive MLs are very very common in this genre but I feel Noah to be very special, maybe this is coming from a bias perspective but I offered proof. Also the reasoning behind his obsessive actions are justified, also his life up until Mason must have been pretty empty with busy parents and also with that terrible situation, him rescuing him from that hellhole when he was convinced that no one would come rescue him sealed the deal for his attachment to him. He admitted to viewing Mason as his religion, his God. Though I would argue you won't speak in that manner to your 'God', if I did that I would told off by my parents and chided endlessly for disrespecting my religion. Also some notable characters, Tony my love, Noah's secretary, Chase(?), that polite woman, the genius director...even the side characters have so much meat(substance) behind them. I love this!!
Honey Trouble
I like this. There are only 12 chapters as of now (15/3/23) but so far, everything has been enjoyable. The characters are a delight and no-one is annoying me. I read the comments first..as always and they talked about a love triangle. Now I immediately assumed that it was a love interest for the MC but that does not seem to be the case. Now the thing is, the MC is a architecture student so he looks upto a famous architecture..who happens to be someone that the seme is acquainted with (we don't know how yet). The guy seems to be interested in seme since he had that picture of him with the uke smiling..and it zoomed in on seme. Now this gives me 'guy from high position monitoring the guy he's obsessed with as if it's normal' vibe. The seme is very very pretty with platinum blonde hair, long eyelashes and pale skin( not my type, but he's a pretty guy). The uke is like Cale Henituse reincarnated, his semi-long hair that comes to the nape of his neck and his piercings as well as his style..I have never simped harder for a bottom (uke from (main couple) love so pure is a close second). The artstyle is also my style so everything is aligning in place. They have known eachother for 2O years, which we get a glimpse of from when the seme dreamed about their first encounter when they were in kindergarten. The seme had long hair then so he looked especially like a girl(a pretty one), the uke approached him first with him nudging closer to where he sat and commented that he looked like a princess. To which he gets mad at and is offended so he pulled up his shirt or pants and his jalapeno appeared (off-screen ofcourse, we don't wanna see a child's ding-a-ling). The uke cried at the sight to which the female teacher calmed him down with him on her lap, he fell asleep and we see the cutest most adorable child with tears in his eyes(they are closed btw). The seme is just as stunned as we are(first simp alert) and he leaned closer while clasping his hand muttering a 'sorry'(the teacher told him to apologise). Now the deal with the cousin. She is the female replica of the seme. It is blatantly clear that she isn't interested in the uke in the slightest and her personality is what you would expect from her face tbh. She is very clear-cut and is straight-faced most of the time unless it's about the owner of the bar where the uke worked at(a female and a beta at that). The seme notices this and use it as bait for her to go along with his play. So that clears up the situation in ch1 when he asked for her number and said that it was for personal reasons. I thought he was bi and since this was an alpha×beta×omega manhwa, I didn't think a big deal of it. I assumed that the seme was a playboy and that uke was the one who liked him with them being sex buddies. Boy..was I wrong. The cousin brought up an interesting point when the seme asked for every detail of her talk with the uke and him telling her not to let anything slip about him and his family to which she commented 'So u can know everything about him but he can't know anything about you?' to which he smiled and said 'Yep'. He hates when interviewers ask about his famous actress of a mom too(who we are informed is currently in UK, she immigrated there(?). He works as a model and is famous in the field as you would expect. He is a nepo baby with the looks and figure for it so..He is also very closed off with other people and has a 'no nonsense policy' example when a guy approached him talking about how he still doesn't have an omega's scent on him yet to which he offered a deal with his cousin having ties to procure some drugs that can let betas have pheromones or some shit. He replied to that with 'I already tried that and it don't work'...ummm S-sir?? He also warned him to know his place and not to act like he knows him or some shit. The deal with the beta thing in this genre. Now I already know that alphas and omegas are like the...ideal pairing. Since they can both feel eachother's pheromones and omegas irregardless of their gender can get pregnant and have a womb. And it's been noted that betas can't feel most things an omega can (we see this when the uke commented that he isn't an omega so he can't 'feel' it when the seme was fingering him. Well..he proved him wrong when he touched his G-spot). We even see the seme searching in the net for how 'a beta can be turned to an omega'. I figure that's the only thing holding him back from making things official with him since society and all other stuffs. The thing that came up when he searched that you was comical...it was basically like 'You should love yourself. It is not a surprise that you would want to be an omega or alpha since they are the minority(oh..the irony) but you should be proud of your identity'. To which he had a "trauma" on..with the emoji used, he even asked the uke not to use that emoji anymore while they were texting eachother. The sex thing. So the uke claims he likes the cousin, to which the seme says that she pegs guys to ward him off but he is resolute to change himself to fit her taste. He further added on that she likes guys blindfolded and hand-cuffed (which are his fears..he can't stand the darkness and being tied up), he expects him to give up at his point but he is adamant that he can do it. So they ended up doing it...slowly and over time ofcourse. He started fingering him with two fingers first but the uke has a 'no kissing' policy since there was nothing between them anyway to which the seme think 'he is OK with me sticking my dick in but he has a problem with my tongue ?'( I weirdly agree with the uke in this, kissing is much more personal and intimate than sex I feel). Also it was comical how the seme was so offended whenever the uke whips out the giant dildo that he purchased. But I agree with him, sticking that thing in his tiny asshole is incredibly risky. But I don't condone how he tricked him when he was scared to do it by wearing that silly eye-mask and when his guard was down, thrusted and filled him half-way then all the way in eventho he promised him to only do it half-way. He compared it to a pediatrician and called it 'something trick' which the uke responded with 'am I a child?' Now, like the alpha is certain that the uke likes him..I agree with that take and I think it is made abundantly clear that the beta likes him as well. There is no way he fell that fast and hard for the cousin. His first impression when he saw her was 'The resemblance is uncanny'. Then he likes her and is supposedly willing to do all these absurd things for her. Nuh-uh, you can't fool me. I think because he is aware that he can't be with him by normal means since he is a beta, he resorted to this. He himself might not be aware of this, I would be pleasantly surprised if he were. He feels safe with him, I still think he hasn't overcome his trauma (can't wait till that is explored) but he seems to think he overcame it since he could withstand being handcuffed and blindfolded (remember this was when the seme was with him). Also the scene when he was a stand-in for some online modelling gig so his neck was scratched(by him) when he was asked to change in the dressing room. He even asked if there were another dressing-room available. The thing that bugs me is the seme is aware of everything alluding to the uke, even that trauma since it happened 10 years ago and they are basically joined at the hip for 20 years... give or take. But he doesn't know anything about him, which the seme makes sure of. The cousin also confirmed (for us) the reason the uke wasn't aware of her existence and that she was his cousin was because he probably made a fuss to his friends not to tell him. The uke's behaviour and response to some of the seme's actions are interesting.. when he suspects the reason the seme asked his boss for her number, he acts like it doesn't bother him and doesn't let that show or when he assumes that the seme hooks up with a lot of random people when he said that he practiced( the uke asked how he was so good at sex since he didn't have any partners that he was aware of). He had on a monotone expression and just willed himself not to think about it. I thought that it would come up but he hasn't let it show. Very very impressive.. with his personality, you would assume that he won't be able to hide anything and blurt everything out or be very emotional but that is not the case. Umm..also the seme supposedly 'trains' the uke's body so he can feel 'it' even more than a omega so that he would be able to get aroused.
Reborn As a Character That Never Existed
Finally a story where a reincarnated lady acts her age and is uncomfortable with being treated like a child. She gets uncomfortable when coddled and looked after as a child, her mentality is that of an adult's afterall. Her parents are the ideal parents, her father the Prime Minister and her mother some kind of knight. Yet they are not neglectful, instead they are very doting and caring. It is said that the MC takes after her mother, while her Lil sis takes after her mom. Though I personally don't see it, they look identical to me. The ML is the og second male lead so he has the personality for it, being self-less and sacrificing his needs for the others. He also made friends with influential people just because their parents held important positions and therefore would greatly serve his dad and thereby the empire. He takes it as if it's natural when he was told that he would be marrying the MC since she is from one of the three families; the guardians, the purifiers and the healers. He belongs to the first and the MC to the last. Btw this is a tragic story written by the MC (supposedly) so she feels guilty for the things happening to the characters and feel love for the characters she created. Also she didn't immediately accept her new family, tho it looked that way. She still thinks and is reminded of her mom and older brother (who teases her yet cried as she died while holding his hands...this some trauma inducing shit). The reason she naps a lot alludes to psychological factors, she still hasn't accepted her new environment. And she doesn't nap anymore since the og ml appears, the maid thinks it's because she needed a friend but the MC says he doesn't give her the time to nap. I like how she naturally warmed up to the male lead and treats the og ml like a baby since the poor baby was abused all his life. Another thing worth noting is that og ml will not fall for MC, but the sister as is predetermined or predestined(that sounds better). Also this story I believe hints at the possibility that this world isn't actually the creation of the MC by the priest's words. The one that can alter destiny, that's what they say about the MC. She was also named after the Goddess of Comedy whom her parents saw a play on before her birth. She would have been named after the male god if she was a male, since there were only two people in the play thereby playing up the uniqueness of it. I like the MC as she is now, her rabbit and her are adorable. I love how she plays the demon queen and has already attained two underlings out of the four. The first being the og ml(since he said it didn't matter whatever he was when the MC asked him to be her friend) and the second one her maid. Her maid regained her will to live after seeing the MC, she had lost her son and had been abandoned (I think) by her husband, so she was to commit suicide as by the book. But since the existence of the MC is a variable and an anomaly in itself, her surviving changed the flow of the book.
