Doctor Resignation

Ongoing | | 2019 released

The art is relatively simple with some flowers adorning the background. The characters are not unique or a specific sketch, things that make it stand out. It's a typical shoujo with the girl raising (?) the boy then boy falls in love, she is dense and he gets more assertive. Him being gaslighted by his older cousin was one of the things that stood out to me since I could see it happening in real life with real people in real situations. And btw they could not make it more obvious that our MC is the biological daughter of the doctor..there is a thing called subtlety which I love that this genre seems to heavily lack. I love reading between the lines and not being spoon-fed about certain things happening in the story especially when it is so transparent. The Duchess is the 'cool mom' I guess..with the way things are going, I reckon the MC and ML fall in love facing the obstacles of the evil cousin or maybe a second male lead? It is very wholesome. The translation is lacking and I feel some scenes get cut out, it is also a walking cliche.. Currently on ch14

I Failed to Divorce My Husband

Ongoing | 럭키고릴라,Haloje | 2019 released

It's relatively simple and nothing to write home about. The fact that she is a full grown adult I think is just done so that it can fit in the isekai trope and not add to the plot as a whole. Her actions are a bit too immature and the solution she cooks up for the trauma the ml is facing seems to be surface level. It just doesn't feel like an adult woman. She blushes when she sees him, that puts me off a little bit cuz you supposed to be an adult. Why are u pining for a 12 year old? Also does she not have any dating experience of any sorts, why is she so affected by him?

Talented baby squirrel

Ongoing | | 2019 released

Currently at Ch10, it is a simple story with clear cut storyline with the good guys and the bad guys. Tho the MC is technically an adult, she seems like a child I guess cuz she doesn't have any friends and an abusive aunt with a manipulative "friend" (the second prince) who bit her, he a snake literally and figuratively. The MC is a squirrel in a family of lions..don't know know that happened but they mentioned she is a half-human so that seems to relate to something. It is a story that is derived by misunderstandings left and right and is used as a narrative to further the plot.

W: Two Worlds

Ongoing | Juniverse,Lee chae (이채) | 2019 released

So this was the draft for the K-drama W, huh? It is completely different tho that doesn't really surprise me with their knack for changing things completely even with 'True Beauty' they did my boy Suho dirty. It's so childish and all over the place, it can be clearly seen that it was made by an amateur. Yep, definitely. I liked the first few episodes of the K-drama..how it started. The MC was so relatable and the ML was charming. Then maybe because of the greed of the producers or people in charge, they monopolised the heck out of it..the story with its wholesome and sweet light hearted tone suddenly turned into a drama thriller and with plot twists after plot twists, it finally took its toll on me and my sis and we sighed a breath of relief when it finally ended. So this is completely different to the K-drama version..it's much more silly and light toned than the drama. They are younger, the ML isn't a celebrity or a public figure yet. The MC isn't a doctor in practice just a trainee of some sorts. The plot is also completely different. The father of the MC is not as involved in this version. The way the MC got into the world of the manhwa is also different..in the drama, since the ML was on deathbed and was profusely bleeding, his tenacious will allowed it to take a form and drag the MC to his world. The drama is much more professional. Also, the creator of the manhwa isn't her dad this time..and she wasn't that big a fan of the ML in the drama. So the scriptwriters and the team that worked on the adaption worked their asses off and improved upon the original. Imo they only took the concept and what followed after were their creative inputs and their experience working in this industry.

Habibi's Rabbits

Ongoing | Dong Gobi Mum,Gongil | 2000 released

It is..pretty unique. Yeah

How to Prey on the Master

Ongoing | Cha hye-young,차혜영 | 2019 released

It feels jarring. It moves from one thing to another. The transition is not smooth as well and the scenes feel clunky. The story itself is a mess. Everything is so surface level. Ofcourse I am saying this after having read 4 chapters. Heh.

Your Majesty, Please Don't Kill Me Again

Ongoing | 혜용 / 에클레어,하연 | 2019 released

Kind of like 'The lady I served is a young master' but a tad different. With how many chapters I've read, I would imagine the MC's and ML's relationship be a lot more advanced than what it is rn. But the ML is still cautious around her and still hides things, Tori seems to take precedence over our Lori. The relationship between Tori and our prince is so intriguing aa well. When Tori tried to kill the racoon, I was very shocked but I guess some hints have been sprinkled here and there. The MC still holds a grudge over the killing of her entire family by the ML in her first timeline or life but she also admits to her family's faults and accepts responsibility. I am going to point out the elephant in the room..her brother likes her. And I don't know how to feel about it. I guess they are not blood siblings and logically it isn't disgusting as he didn't harbour these feelings being oblivious that they aren't "real" siblings, it was his first memories of life finding out that they weren't blood related. So growing up, he didn't see him as his sister so the incest isn't as strong. Btw Roche pisses me off why is she like so backhanded in everything Lori related? She has to brag about her brother in front of her trying to make their relationship superior to the siblings.

Taishou Otome Otogibanashi

Complete | Kirioka Sana | 2000 released

I looove looove looove this!!! The MCs are so nice and heartwarming and wholesome and such good people. The way Yuzu is so patient with our ML and dotes on him and cares for him, consoling him..ahh I want her as my wife. Also our ML is nothing to scoff at either although he considers himself a pessimist, he is such a positive person who considers the bright side to everything. He considered suicide as a means to escape because he was essentially disowned by his rich ass family and sent to live in a deserted house where his grandpa spent his later years and died, in a distant and rural village. His wife is truly his saving grace. He is so funny, I love how he accepts Yuzu's goodwill and kindness, compliments her cooking and his blushing..so adorable!! His tsundere sister I grew to love only after a few pages with her..I love the twist that she admires her brother and doesn't see him as a disgrace despite his disability. Also the friend of Yuzu who got pregnant..at first I was a bit skeptical and wary since teenage pregnancy causes a lot more damage in a society to the young girl than the boy so I thought that was irresponsible but now I am starting to get it. Above all our dear sweet MC reminds me so much of my best friend Mari

Taisho Wotome Otogibanashi Spin Off

Ongoing | Kirioka sana | 2019 released

A spin-off to my favourite manga of all time!!(in slice of life). It seems to be cooking related. I read upto ch15 currently and some parts of the og manga was cut out and the cooking process is so detailed and precise and ot centers around that.

Another Typical Fantasy Romance

Ongoing | Wolhet | 2019 released

I was a bit skeptical about reading this because of the cover. The ml looked like an older man and not exactly the most daddy material atleast not for me. The fl seemed demure and docile in the cover with her pink hair and floral dress as well as the helpless expression so I assumed the worst. The art isn't the best but it suffice. The plot itself isn't too complicated, it's quite simple really. Atleast we now know what comes after 'happily ever after' with such an overly possessive ml in a typical romance. The MC still has trauma regarding 'love' because of the crown prince's obsession.. eventually killing her since he couldn't have her for himself. The frivolous friend is nice, not overbearing and knows not to cross the line. The ML is a cute grizzly bear who is easily flustered with low self-esteem who secluded himself from the outside world. The MC actually being the empress in her second life was a shock to me as she was royalty not by blood but by marriage, it seems the crown prince abdicated the throne for her. Rn I am in Ch20, will read more later. I like the pacing tho it is faster than my preferred style, it works for the story. Otherwise it would feel like filler and be a bore to read through.
