Way too much teacher x student stuff, my god. I only stayed for Hikaru and Rihito, and I liked the story with the woman and the man who got used, but they got closer in the process. I thought that was sweet. If it were just the OG characters, I would have given this at least four stars, but nah :/.

A Guy Like You

Complete | Waje | 2016 released

This was THE FIRST BL I had ever read, and I remember being so confused reading this because my brain couldn't process two dudes being together. I didn't like it because it was way too long, I didn't understand what was going on, and to me, everyone in this story sucked—no wonder I hate the other author's work, tho. I was not the biggest fan of the art style too. I only read this because I kept seeing it everywhere in ads, and I was just curious, but I regret this being my first BL :/. I'll reread it and see if my reaction differs five years later, but I doubt it. And unpopular opinion, but most Lezhin comics suck anyways. The only ones I would say I love are Sign and BL Motel because they're so wholesome. Other than that, Lezhin comics are either just so bad they need to be burned in a fire, or they're mediocre. There's no in-between.

Dropped. I couldn't even watch this shitshow happen. Man held him hostage in his own home with a gun, called him a "virgin woman", didn't even thank raven hair for allowing him to stay in his home, tells him that he can't talk to anyone except him, and then forces him to suck his d. Honestly it's hilarious that I'm not even surprised cuz that sounds like some shit that an American dude from the 30s would do. But like why does this need to be a thing •_•.

1. 3 out of 10 Umm I don know how I feel about this. I'm genuinely curious where the American kissing stereotype came from lmao. As an American (and I definitely would rather not be CANADA BRING ME INTO YOUR LOVING ARMS), if anybody came up and forcibly kissed me in the street I would beat them up and bury their body where no one will find them :D. Also they fell in love in like a day and I'm not a big fan of that. Plus blondie actor was SUPER pushy like sexual harassment levels to borderline rapey. His backstory didn't make me feel better about what he did either. That whole story was weird. But when they got together it was kinda nice. But eh. I don't mind foreigner x Japanese mc or mixed x Japanese. GIVE US MORE DIVERSITY PLS. But this was just littered with weird stereotypes and yes I would hold an American author to the same standards. 2. 1 out of 10 I'm simply giving it this rating cuz it makes me angry. I really loved their dynamic. I love food stories. "Chick" was so cute and I was so excited to see this story play out. And then I see the dude, AN ADULT MIND YOU, outside his HIGH SCHOOL. I never wanted to scream so bad. I've never felt so disappointed since I read Hitorijime My Hero. Like why he is underage, if they wanted him to go to school PUT HIM IN COLLEGE. So many BLs do this and it's so messed up. Pedo/Hebephilia ain't cute loves. I don't care that the age of consent is 13 in Korea, or that they both met when they were young, Chick is still a minor and raven hair is still an adult. If they were at the most, three years apart in age it would be fine, but still, very disappointing. 3. 9 out of 10 Literally the only great story in this whole thing. I loved the manga, so I was so excited to read the "got jealous of their dog" story. I'm glad it didn't turn into a whole giant misunderstanding either where he was like "iM goNnA bREaK uP wIth YoU hOw DaRe yOu dO thIs To mE". So it was great to see these two again. All in all: 4 out of 10 Wish I could put it higher :/

1st story: 5 out of 10 THEY SHOULD'VE SWITCHED. IF YOU HAVE TWO TOPS MAKE THEM SWITCH. THIS IS DISCRIMINATION AGAINST SHORT TOPS >:(. 2nd story: 8 out of 10 Honestly wish it was longer cuz it was so funny and sweet. Even though the romance is the focus it's crazy how deep it goes. There's always something to live for, or someone. Even if things seem hopeless in the moment there's a always chance things will get better in the future. Just gotta keep living well. :D Altogether 6.5 out of 10

When I first read this it was ongoing with only 2 chapters. So I thought this was gonna just be a toxic love story and he was just gonna keep hurting him to drive him away, but I was surprised that it was wasn't. It was good to look at both of their psyches. While I don't condone some of the stuff the senpai did or the unnecessary pain he put takase through by breaking up with him. But other than that it was nice I guess. This mangaka's art is so gorgeous. And Takase is so cute wth- Anyways 6.5 out of 10 :3

Honestly, I don't know how to feel about this manhwa. I really love some parts of it. Eunhyung's storyline, while so tragic, was such a good reflection of how serious rape is and the effects it has on women nearly every day. May she rest in peace. It took a while, but I got really attached to some of the characters; most are absolutely unbearable (*cough* Dai *cough*). However, I at least came out remembering their names. Even with some comics I like, with characters I may adore, I never bother remembering their names. I kept hoping that further into the story, they would get better, but there wasn't that much development, especially with Dai's storyline. He stayed one note. Even if he would change a little, he returned to being insufferable a chapter later. I don't know why Jaehee liked him enough to abandon some of his friends and family for him. I get it if he is the finest, kindest man on the planet and loves you more than anything. You should fight for that person, but Dai abandoned him more times than I can count. And what he did to Eunhyung is absolutely unforgivable. Someone who just sits there and lets it happen when they have the power to stop the situation is worse than the people actually doing it. He constantly resorts to violence, even toward Jaehee, who he supposedly loves. The story literally starts because he gets his gang to beat him up. What a wonderful meet-cute. (If you can't tell, I'm being sarcastic) This is abusive shit. Like how is that even a good relationship? He's just going to be stuck wondering whether his partner is in a good mood today or if he will get beaten up the next. Seeing Jaehee act like a doormat just because he "loves" him quickly gets old. And his blatant misogyny is just appalling. We never get an explanation for this either; he's just an asshole for the whole manhwa. I want to dislike this, but there are so many saving graces. This is just a very flawed story. Most definitely outdated by today's standards, probably even when it was published. I'm still salty about the fact that comics like these, with toxic love stories or ones that are borderline illegal, are the ones that get long serializations. While beautiful masterpieces with healthy storylines and wonderful characters only get 6 chapters, one volume and nobody talks about them. Do I feel like I wasted my time? No. I think I was able to learn some things, not only about some certain perspectives but even myself. One thing's for sure, this was definitely memorable, but would hardly call it masterpiece. And I would encourage my fellow readers to think before you give this a 10 out of 10.
