The main character, Jang Qilin/Kirin (like the mythical beast) is a soldier who’s known as the Crimson Demon. The MC’s backstory is that he was found floating in a basket in a river by some beggars, and was sold off when barely even 2 years old. From then on, he lived in what was a battle Royale type of environment. Needing to fight for survival every single day. Until finally, the soldiers came in to shut the assassin training down. The emperor himself found Qilin, surrounded by the dead bodies of other children. As the only survivor, the emperor saved him… and the young boy ended up going to the northern front, where he spent the remainder of his time at war on the battlefield. Qilin, once the general he was under died, became determined to live a ‘normal’ life. One free of bloodshed, because he could no longer bear how they viewed lives as weightless in war. There are so many good friendships, redemptions, and even the ‘villains’ have some 3D character building to them. The art is lovely as well, and the romance is very sweet.

Very sweet Historical BL, with mild enemies to infatuated lovers vibes! There are some very tragic parts, but thankfully the characters we grow to love and miss when they’ve passed in the original plot are shown to be living fulfilling lives in the modern world where the MC is from. Speaking of, the MC is a kindhearted CEO who wakes up one day as the lustful prince of a novel he’s been reading. Not wanting to be killed by the ML, he tries to get on the prince’s good side and prevent the dangerous events that occur…. And the ML ends up falling for the MC. Falling hard, nonetheless.
