I don't think this story have a 'happy ending'... Everything was fucked up from the very start, (not the start of the story timeline, but they life). The way we follow the story is very intriguing, despite always reinforcing the protagonist's lessons for himself, I believe it was a tip for readers too.The story use sci-fi, but the understanding of how society work is very similar and despite being considered a "romance" it is a broken relationship that I don't know if it can be labeled as something "for love".
Human relationships are complicated and everyone has their own reactions and understandings, that's how things end up happening. For me, this story is simply that. There could be someone who is wrong and someone who is right, but life takes the human mind to dark places. There are those who have not made a mistake and in some future do with someone, there are those who just don't want to "lose" and between all of this are those feelings of no understanding what is and just feel. In the end they reached a point where they wouldn't be tied apart, whether it was out of love, hate or something much more complicated that I can't say.
