The Beautiful Ones
The most poignant aspect is that 'the ugly one' discovered something to live and die for, even if it was a boy oblivious to his selfless affection. The ugly one succeeded in saving 'the beautiful one' by giving him his obsidian eyes—the very feature the beautiful boy admired. Now, he'll eternally remain by his side, experiencing the world anew through the eyes of the one who gave his life meaning. In restoring beauty to his beloved, he too became beautiful.
Stigma
it touches on how encounters can spark hope for change, but also realistically shows that healing is a complex process. despite its shortcomings in plot resolution and how sometimes tries to be more "deep" than needed, the story offers a gritty, honest look at life on the margins and the possibility of finding connection in unexpected places.
