The Rib of Adam (Jinmi)

Complete | jinmi | 2019 released

HAHAHAHAH I READ THE COMMENTS AND IT SOUNDS FUCKING WEIRD BUT I’LL READ IT. EDIT: This was so fucking weird, like it had some weird delusional message behind him getting the vagina on his ribcage. Plus it was full of rape it was horrible and his ex was crazy maybe beyond it like she needs some help wtf. Near the end I just skimmed through it but the whole thing was people raping him and being like “yOu NeEd To UnDeRsTaNd HoW tO lOvE wOmEn!!!” I feel bad for the guy, I don’t know how he really treated the women he was with but that last one was strange she was obsessive and I don’t blame him for leaving her. Also the rape part is part of this author’s title, seriously, Screengrab was full of rape and this one was too. I hate how they told him he liked it and tried to make him think it was okay when it really wasn’t. At the end of the day it was still rape and they all need to go to a mental hospital like all of the characters are fucked up in the head. If I were to rate this, it would be 0 stars for many reasons and the themes it portrayed.

Boy Meets Maria

Complete | Peyo | 2019 released

OKAY THIS STORY WAS JUST AMAZING. Forst I have to say I will re-read because I zoomed through it like I got the just of it but I didn’t read everything just bits and pieces. With that aside, this was very cute and wholesome. One of the tags that drew me in the most was the tag “Genderfluid” because it’s not common for stories to feature characters that identify outside the gender spectrum. Arima struggled a lot with his gender especially the pressure from his mom wanting a girl. I think it was good that he stuck to his identity especially after that horrible incident with his teacher. I think he healed a bit after the incident even when it made him not want to be a girl for a while. I’m glad he could express both versions of himself. As for his relationship with the boy (forgot his name) he loved him either way. I remember in the story he said something like “I was drawn to you for the feminine version of yourself” and that upset Arima making him remember his mother’s desire for a girl. They ended up talking over it and the boy told him he liked him both ways. Another thing I liked was while I was speed reading, I processed the boys reactions as being open about his sexuality. Even when people called him gay he didn’t mind it even showing affection towards Arima was very open and to me it seemed like he did not care. I apologize for saying “seemed” or “how I understood it” because again, I sped through it so I may be wrong. If I end up being wrong on some parts then I’ll correct it when I re-read it. The last thing I want to cover is how Arima viewed the boy as his hero because of the flower he gave him reminded him of his hero from that incident. I feel like it was very sweet and I shed some tears because he had a deep connection between him because of that. I just feel like that just feels warm and healing for Arima because he has a person that is similar to his hero that makes him safe and happy when around him. I think that’s all I wanted to say and I’ll just throw in that I hope that disgusting teacher that hurt Arima got put into jail. It was a nice story and very heart-warming, only trigger warning is the rape from the incident but still a beautiful story.

Alrighty, I have some mixed feelings here. So basically I was pretty disappointed with the ending but it does kinda make sense. The whole idea of “the one who caused you most pain can be your medicine” makes sense with the mc and the author introduced a new ending. As in new ending I mean that the author didn’t do something predictable. Still, I wanted the mc to get away from the stalker but that didn’t happen. I just don’t like that it had a happy ending of both of them staying together after everything the mc went through. They’re both pretty messed up so I guess it fit but the mc was the victim. The mc knew from the start that he was the victim but just didn’t confront him about it. Well the mc said he couldn’t confront the problem but it didn’t mean he did try. But there’s another part is that he kinda just let it happen to him and that made me feel upset. It basically sat there and took it but I am not trying to blame the mc (aka victim blame). I think that there’s more to it and that he just felt powerless so he didn’t do anything. I tried to take that into consideration since he obviously did not want it but I’m just used to hearing about victims of rape fighting back as much as they can. But in the situations that the victim doesn’t fight back, they usually have a weapon close to them that threatens their life 10 times more. Again I’m not invalidating the mc’s experience, inside and out, what happened to him was still horrible. The stalker, I didn’t feel much pity for him, he was obsessive and sick. I don’t know what else I want to say about the stalker but that’s it, for now. I think I got all my thoughts out and the sentences stopped forming in my head. That is all, the end of my many reviews.
