this was an absolutely gorgeous manhwa. it might actually have been one of the best romances i've ever read, period. i have only very rarely read BLs with writing as thoughtful and emotionally intelligent as this. the delicate twist of the fact that it wasn't necessarily ja-wook being unable to enforce his boundaries due to his fear of losing the relationship being the only problem, but rather the fact that gyum was distrustful and scared of himself and was relying on ja-wook to be a knowing "limiter", was so realistic and nuanced. this manhwa has treated the topic of boundaries and trusting your s/o in a relationship, especially one involving bdsm, with incredible detail and gentleness. the venn diagram may only cross in a very small way, but sometimes it's worth it to cross the intersection because you love how much your partner loves it, and you have to trust them when they're taking that step. so much beautiful imagery in here as well - the shadows, the subtle references to surrounding elements in the room when making a metaphor. the secondary couple that shows up in the second season is absolutely lovely as well, and i like how they face a completely different set of problems. all of these characters feel alive and distinct.

though the development of the relationship happens way, way too fast, it's the arc at kamina's summer villa that makes this story for me - i love the maturity of their relationship, their mutual understanding for each other, and the realism of the two main characters. there's also smut. a lot of it. o///o
