I would have rated this 5/5 stars, but for a few things: 1) it gets a bit melodramatic with the abusive boyfriend for my tastes, 2) the story is a bit generic. It's realistic, and the characters are developed well, but it feels like it's "just enough" development for each point it wants to make. Very very close to 5 star rating though. 4.5/5.
The mother's journey to understanding and accepting her son is similar to that of "My Son is Probably Gay". Though the latter is longer, more detailed, and more intimate.
