Shinobeba Koi

Complete | yukue moegi | 2014 released

Bro they're adorable . I love relationships that have complicated emotional backstories. They've both been in love with each other for 10 years but the complicated feelings surrounding how they met and fell out made it hard for them, especially Toranosuke, to express their feelings. I love that by the end Tora figures out how to say wahst on his mind. There are so many little things about these two that are amazing. I love the whole thing with the rings. And also FINALLY a story that doesnt use rape, assault, or kidnapping ro create drama. The characters themselves have enough complicated feelings to make this an interesting story 9/10. Might be a 10/10 and not just cuz I'm a sucker for cool, gentle guys on motorcycles but the girls kinda sucked in this so I gotta think on it

On Doorstep

Complete | Chongtak | 2016 released

Pickpocket (seme) gets caught by a no nonsense retired cop (uke) and is forced to do some manual labor. To retaliate, he breaks into the uke's house but pa icks and leaves when he finds out the man's a retired cop. Then he finds out the uke's got PTSD after finding his partner dead in his house and that's why he quit. The distressed expressions in this are so good; I know that's a weird thing to say, but they do angst so well in this. There's genuine character development for both characters despite this being so short. The drama of the reveal is 10/10 angst without been dark or twisted or depressing. I just wish there was more to explore the semes relationship with his friends and rhe ukes relationship with HIS friends and his trauma. As a minor note, the seme's hair is on point Story wise, I'd give this a 7 but the art is so frickin clean and fluid it gets bumped up to an 8 so 8/10

Tonari no Usotsuki (Suzaka Shina)

Complete | Rika anzai,Shina suzaka | 2000 released

Closet gay still coming to terms with his own sexuality falls in love with the openly gay cinnamon roll he sees at the cafe he goes to often. Seeing Yuuichi be confident with his sexuality even tho he let's his shitty ex walk all over him for a while encourages Takase to finally accept his own sexuality. 7 or 8/10

Hinadori wa Shiokaze ni Madoromu

Complete | MINADUKI Yuu | 2018 released

Uke's entire family died in a tragic accident, and now it's just him and his nephew trying to survive life together. The hot and mysterious guy running a small restaurant in the town they move to takes in interest in them and they start building a relationship. The overall tone is melancholy as all three main characters are suffering from painful experiences, and it's sweet how they fumble through supporting each other in their developing relationships. There's some angst, some drama, and some ghosting, and there's a This story gets two big pluses from me: 1) The kid actually has agency. He's not used as a plot device. The story takes him seriously; it doesn't do that thing where they just call him cute and ignore that he's a real person with real feelings. Still looking for a story where the adults validate even the silly things kids get upset over because... like it's silly to us but very impactful to them and--I'm getting worked up lol. Anyway, this story did the kid justice. 2) The single mom the uke makes friends with is amazing and feels like a real person. For all the degrading the seme did of women, I was worried this would be another BL where everyone woman is shitty. But this mom was incredible and her handling of her son was incredible. I know this is like almost the bare minimum, but I'm happy to see it. Also a plus is the sex is consensual. Aside from the somewhat dubious bit because alcohol, the seme doesn't force the uke into anything sexual. I appreciate it. This is an 8/10. Would be 6/10 but it gets +2 for the kid and mom friend

Kudou Sensei no Majestic Days

Complete | FUJIMINE Shiki | 2017 released

Slutty masochist teacher with stalker tendencies (got pictures of a student plastered all over his wall and gets off on it). We'll see how much worse it gets. Update: it was meh? Didn't get worse or better, they fuck, they fall in love, there is an attempted tape scene by some other dudes which is awful. Otherwise the relationship is actually pretty consensual. So yeah good smut 3/10

Perfect Propose

Ongoing | Tsurukame mayo | 2019 released

Stressed out salaryman (uke) being overworked at a black company suddenly runs into a kid, now grown up, he knew back in middle school (seme). Seme asks to move in temporarily while his boss, who he lives with, is in the hospital. Watching Hiro be stressed and worn down mentally by that job was starting to stress ME out (⋟īšâ‹ž). Shotout to Kaneko, his team lead or smth, for encouraging him to quit and pointing out just how badly the chief has twisted his image of himself. Kai's life was also sad af, just neglect after neglect, and it shows so clearly through his mindset. I really liked the old guy who took him. Also props to the son for recognizing what a shitty thing he did and genuinely apologizing for it. I liked a lot about this story, but the ending was just unsatisfying. It feels abrupt and like it didn't solve the underlying issues. Hiro quits his jobs, which I was rooting for. But Kai just abandons the old man who's cared for him for the past 5 or 6 years. There's nothing wrong with Kai moving on, I just wanted some scene with the old guy where he talks about it, so we can resolve that plot thread. idk. This was almost a 9; the ending brought it down to a 7; Kaneko, the old man, and the son brought it back up to an 8/10
